Cheltenham Town 1 - 1 Derby County

CHELTENHAM TOWN v DERBY COUNTY League 1 #11

1500 The Completely-Suzuki Stadium 7th October 2023

A very satisfying victory v Blackpool on Tuesday is followed by defeat to a team who have one point and have failed to score in 10 league matches.............it couldn't happen...could it? It is the Derby way.......

A competent display needs to be followed by another competent display along with a win. Win the game in hand and things start to look alot more positive - win ugly, win nicely, win - I don't care.

The team is moulding into a team that PW wants with a clear plan. But now, lets have some home wins?

As I've implied, Cheltenham are desperate - surely they have to click soon? A minus 19 GD is a fair reminder of where and what they are. But playing teams like this are always a potential banana skin and I'm not counting any gallinulas.

Do we persevere with anyone at the back? Could be an interesting formation just for tomorrow. Discuss.

Team news:- Wildsmith (GK), Forsyth, Cashin, Barkhuizen, Collins, Waghorn, Mendez-Laing, Smith, Fornah, Nyambe, Nelson. Vickers (GK), Wilson, Hourihane, Bradley, Bird, Washington, Sibley.

Subs:- Vickers (GK), Wilson, Hourihane, Bradley, Bird, Washington, Sibley.

Well, I'm sorry for being a moaner. I try to be balanced. It's just opinion. I've done a fair bit of travelling to watch the team this week. Maybe I'm just tired.

No, you usually give a balanced view on the match, but some do find a lot of pleasure in moaning about the results or lack of them.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Some of us want to see some decent football, Vidal posted what most of us feel very well.

It's all very well sitting in your chair watching the match at home Uncle, some of us have to watch Warne's style live. Some even go to most away games even. Why shouldn't we have a moan when we don't play well?

Talking about moaning... Borthwick is not a very good manager.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If Vidal would supply me with new legs i would be going.

He's a very well qualified medical consultant, not Jesus!

If he was we'll be winning every week

Meanwhile for goodness sake keep on moaning and commenting. Look at the pathetic contributions on other threads. We have something special here, let's not lose it! 🐏

Eustace has left Birmingham

Second time they have sacked an ex Derby player to replace them with someone with a more famous profile. Gary Rowett, then John Eustace, don't they know Rooney played for Derby so they will have to sack him and replace him with Messi.

I think they'll be calling Neil Warnock after Rooney's tenure. It's absolutely ridiculous how clubs who have some stability after years of mediocrity chose to get rid of the coach not necessarily for someone more qualified but for the popular name in sport and the media attention it brings.

Cue the Wayne Rooney's Birmingham City references very soon.

Wayne Rooney's salary is 3 times that of John Eustace.
Absolute madness

Its because he's three times the size of John Eustace.

Whenever I hear neil warnock mentioned, I always think back to his time with Gresley Rovers, when they won the title, and weren't allowed into the league because the ground did not meet the criteria for league standards, such a shame

While I recognise the Rooney effect on our brilliant reaction to the points deductions his record since leaving is uninspiring and I guess overall it's not that good if you are looking at wins. Someone else (on here?) suggested that maybe R was the man manager but that the real coaching ability was with LR and it looks like that is correct. Eustace was doing pretty well at Brum and swapping him out for Rooney seems pretty stupid - a typical Morris-like approach of trying to look good by signing up "names" irrespective of actual ability.

As I say, R did OK for us as a rallying point but I miss him not at all - too much personal baggage and always likely to hit the headlines for the wrong reasons.
