Well, another draw, but a decent result following the sending off. Our first half play was brilliant at times, but ultimately the final ball let us down.
For all the brilliance of some of our new signings, we are missing the goals, link-up and pace of Johnson down the right side. Still, it’s early in the season, so plenty of time and positives.
The Good: Boly, Dominguez, Mangala, Murrilo and Sangare.
The Bad: The final ball. We need to get Awoniyi into the game more.
The Ugly: Niakhate!! What were you thinking?!
Special Mention: The referee (in our favour for once), Toffolo…looked great in his cameo.
The Last Game (Palace):
Hennessy
Worrall Boly Niakhate
Aurier Yates Mangala Lodi
MGW Johnson
Awoniyi
Stronger in the middle now, but arguably weaker up front and at the back. We drew 1-1 last time, Awoniyi scoring in the first half, the albino for them.
Team:
Turner
Aurier Worrall Boly Murillo Aina
Sangare Dominguez
MGW CHO
Awoniyi
Subs: Vlachodimos, Felipe, Montiel, Toffolo, Mangala, Santos, Elanga, Origi, Wood
Injuries:
Danilo, Tavares and Yates look set to miss out.
Doubts over Aina and Dominguez.
Missing out:
Hennessy, McKenna, Omobamidele, Williams, Aguilera, Kouyate.
Form:
Forest - W2 D2 L2 GF7 GA8
Palace - W2 D2 L2 GF6 GA7
Forest (A) - W1 D2 L3 GF7 GA10
Palace (H) - W3 D2 L1 GF10 GA7
* After being winless in 3, Palace bound back to beat Man U (1-0) Away.
Prediction:
After losing Olise at the start of the season, they have now lost Eze. They still have the powerful Edouard up front and a solid defence and midfield. They’ll be well organised and difficult to beat as always.
We’ll likely revert to 3 at the back for this one, meaning we’ll revert to the counter-attacking low-block that was very successful for the last 6 or 7 months.
It will be a tight game, that could go either way. I think we’ll nick it 1-0 and head into the break in a pretty 10th.

Good performance, didn’t get the goal(s) we probably deserved but the team is improving. Happy enough

Definitely looking a lot better than last season on the road

Whilst there is no such thing as a bad point, that really should have been 3.
I get the feeling if we had played til midnight we wouldn’t have scored, possibly the only facet of our game that was missing today.
We huffed and puffed, but just didn’t have that little bit of quality to take all 3 points, and with Taiwo being out for about a month, it’s a bit of a worry.
The performance was quite refreshing, possibly the best over a whole match we’ve seen this season, not forgetting Palace don’t very often fail to score in a home, but they probably only had a couple of really threatening efforts, compared to our handful.
The main thing to take from todays game is the fact the players are starting to understand each others game, which was always going to take time.
It’s unusual to be disappointed with a point away from home, but that’s how I feel at the moment.
Interested to hear what Cooper has to say, I’m sure he’ll be pleased, but maybe also a little disappointed also.

General consensus which I agree with is that we played well but lacked a real goal threat. Wood didn’t threaten at all.
Give Origi the starting place next week, can’t be any worse.. After that Esapa Osong is the next man up.
Murillo MOTM - What a find.

I must admit, I wasn’t part of the Wood bandwagon after he scored his second goal in a Forest shirt. It’s like we’re playing with ten men.
With Awoniyi out we have to start Origi or Elanga up front. Elango’s touch was awful today. Maybe even Danilo when he is fit, he certainly can finish.
Spoiler alert on the Special Mention! Has to be Murillo for that run! Dominguez not far behind him.
Happy with a point, glad to see us gelling, but we need firepower in January. I’d move Wood on and bring Guirassy in. A winger also.
According to the Random Pundit’s website, we still have £47.5m in the kitty for salary and wages.
See you in two weeks 👍🏼

Agree with your special mention, Murillo, but not just for that run, his defending and distribution we’re on another level.
The signing of Murillo, Sangare, and Dominguez in th summer have given us the look of a team that could challenge for a European place. Maybe not this season, but the way we are progressing next season is for sure.
