Has it come to this? International break-induced boredom making me think up a thread? Here goes:
In spite of all recent and not so recent DCFC-type woes I have been fortunate enough to experience some good seasons, albeit they seem from the dim and distant past. I'm sure all on here who support the Rams have done so over different eras so I'm asking, from all the seasons you have watched, which was the best?
I am able to consider lots of them having started from c 1954/5 and clearly the two seasons we won the old First Division and the two following when we were in the European Cup stand out but I'm opting for 1968/9 when we won the old second division.
I was in my mid twenties and had been watching less than average fare (and that is being kind) for about 15 years. If Derby ever ventured into the transfer market during that time it was to purchase had-beens or never-would-bes (apart from Durban and Hector) for nominal fees so the excitement generated when Cloughie started signing some top players for previously unheard of fees was incredible. It just seemed so unreal and then to have promotion thrown in, never mind those fabulous Cup wins against Chelsea and Everton (please correct me if I'm wrong about when those wins came) was surreal.
Of course winning the First Division twice (and nearly, the European Cup) was extra-special but for me it all started back in 1968 which is why I'm opting for 1968/9.

Horrific rain over here which is continuing but has eased off a bit. The flash flooding that closed the M54 at Telford earlier today has cleared. The roads around the ground should be OK and the pitch ought to drain overnight. Because of train cancellations I am driving to Loughborough and back tomorrow to collect second son though!
