Forest v Luton - Match Thread

Well, another draw!!! For all our fantastic attacking play we just didn't have it in the final third. I'm not sure how that changes without Awoniyi, especially when Origi and Wood are....Origi and Wood.

Saying that, they will have their best chance of the season so far vs Luton at home.

The Good: Everything...except goals.

The Bad: The final ball. No goals.

The Ugly: Not scoring. Goals?

Special Mention: Murillo. What a ball to MGW...what a run for what might have been. Brilliant.

The Last Game (Luton):

Samba

Worrall Figs McKenna

Spence Garner Yates Colback

Johnson Grabban Davis

Surprisingly not a bad side!

Team:

Turner

Aurier Murillo Boly Aina

Sangare Dominguez Mangala

MGW CHO Elanga

Let's try that false 9 nonsense.

Subs: Vlachodimos, Felipe, Montiel, Toffolo, Kouyate, Santos, Yates, Origi, Wood

Injuries:

Awoniyi, Danilo and Tavares look set to miss out.

Missing out:

Hennessy, McKenna, Omobamidele, Worrall, Williams, Aguilera.

Form:

Forest - W1 D3 L2 GF5 GA7 - 13th
Luton - W1 D1 L4 GF5 GA8 - 17th

Forest (H) - W4 D2 L0 GF12 GA7
Luton (A) - W1 D2 L3 GF5 GA11

* Luton picked up their first win away at Everton, after their first EPL points at home to Wolves.

Prediction:

Surely we can beat Luton? At home.

Defensively we look sound, we ping it about with ease and against a Championship side, Championship Wood and Serie A Origi will come on to win it late.

Forest 2 Luton 0

COYRs!!!

Thrown this away. Very poor last 10

We are awful against the poorer teams at home. We just get bullied all the time. We have attackers who are good until the final ball/shot so while we do alright going forward, we don’t really score or create much. Then when we bring subs on in the second half we capitulate defensively. I love Worral and don’t want to slag anyone off, but he constantly makes mistakes that lead to goals.

Potentially a very, very demoralising result.

Too many draws. Too many points dropped.

We should be another 4-5 points better off. This has to be a learning for Cooper as some of the late changes have not been working when we go defensive.

Agree, we seem to just start defending late in games and it doesn’t work at all.

If we are playing 4-3-3 then Mangala, Sangare, Dominguez, and Gibbs White can’t all start. We only need three midfielders.
If Awoniyi, CHO, and Origi are all injured, then ‘next man up’ has to be Larsson or Etapa Osong doesn’t it?
Playing MGW wide makes him easier to mark.
Bringing on three subs at once is too disruptive.
Murillo, Mangala, and Sangare are brilliant technically.

You can’t afford to miss as many chances as we did, Wood had plenty of chances, especially two golden headed which he managed to miss.
Our game management was very poor, and ironically it was the petulance of MGW that started the comeback, yes he’d been found earlier, but giving a free kick away in that position just invites pressure.
Totally agree about the substitutions, crazy is the only word i can think of, you can’t change that many defenders in one go.
We are again dropping too many points from winning positions, and our home form is not as good as last season.
We need to sharpen up all around, or we will be in yet another relegation scrap, saying that, we have much better players than last season and hopefully that won’t happen.
I watched Newcastle against Palace on MOTD, they were clinical, that is the lesson we need to learn, and fast.
One last thing, much as i love Worrall for what he has done for the club, i am beginning to think he just isn’t good enough for the Prem.

Our last three results have been very disappointing, but the bigger picture is still looking very good. I think it is a sign of the progress we have made that we now expect more than we have got from the last three games.

There are still plenty of resons to be optinistic. We will have setbacks over the next couple of years but as long as recruitment and coaching continue to bring results and progress similar to what has been seen since Steve Cooper came in all will be well.
