Was working last night so only caught up on the game when I got home.....
Firstly I am loving the positivity that is around the club this year after last seasons debacle.... although being a long term LCFC supporter am I alone in fearing a "falling off a cliff run of results at some point"?
We are not playing to our best but it is still enough, that tells us a lot. From watching on tv I thought Sunderland looked good and comfortable on the ball but just not much up top apart from Clarke ( who looks a player btw)
Hats off to their keeper who made a couple of very good saves to keep them in it, it could quite easily have been 3 or 4 last night, but Faes needs to have a look at himself! There was no need to go to ground in the box and he/we got away with a stonewall penalty not being given there.
Overall nothing really to complain about, could do with Ipswich slipping up tonight ( and Leeds as I think they will be our nearest challenger over the season)
But finally a huge shout out to Harry Winks who since joining has shown a calm head in the middle of the park, and his link up play, how he see;s the game and his vision is perfect for bringing in a revamped squad for this season.
He may not have been wanted at Spurs but boy has he been a revelation this season.

Interesting observations Appleton. There were quite a few on this forum bemoaning the signing of Winks, but it is very clear he is a highly talented individual. Every player needs a run of games to get into their stride and clearly he wasn’t getting that at Tottenham. Maresca is certainly convinced by his credentials. Makes you wonder why the various high profile managers at Tottenham weren’t.
As regards Tottenham, they seem to have thrown off the Spursy tag; a down to earth manager with no obvious ego seems to be working for them.
As an aside, Casedei appears to be coming on in leaps and bounds.

Quite agree OWF, there were a number of loud negative noises when we signed Winks, I for one thought that he would be the ideal ‘middle of the park lynchpin’ for us in the Championship, and he has settled into that role perfectly.
Having him there gives those around him confidence to be slightly more creative knowing that Winks has their backs!!!!
As for Casedei he certainly showed glimpses of being more comfortable on the ball, a bit stronger when challenged so hopefully he is getting more comfortable with the way we play.
Lots of our squad performing 7/10 game in game out, imagine when we get up to 8 or 9 out of 10 🤷‍♂️
Re Spurs, am I the only one that has relished their ‘flatter to deceive’ of the last few seasons…. But for once they seemed to have done the right thing, low key appt of manager BUT one that plays a way the supporters can get behind and moved away from focussing on Kane and more of a team now. I whisper it but I love watching them this season, they have had a great start and I am torn between seeing this team achieve something or seeing them flatter to deceive again!

I was surprised at the negativity around Winks but then again I was busy worrying that Enzo would be a disaster so didn’t really pay much attention when we signed him

Thankfully so far - the pessimists have it wrong. To be fair last season we smashed it out the park

It’s nice to have an optimistic harmonious feel at the club and on here tbf….
I totally get the ‘ if we play like this next season we will be Luton/Burnley etc’ but
A) let’s enjoy this season for what it is, after the torrid vitriolic time of last season
B) Enzo seems to have a solid firm plan and this group of players are buying into it, even those on the sidelines at the moment
And then let’s see where we find ourselves on the final whistle of the last game of the season, and IF and I do mean IF we are promoted then let’s see what the club do to ensure that we do not repeat last season.

WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUE

I agree. I’ve been guilty of looking too far ahead. The nature of my personality means I’m always thinking worst case and wondering what the next problem will be (it’s completely exhausting) We’re all different in that respect. One thing we can all agree on is that we are doing brilliantly

You have my utmost sympathy 99, Mrs A is exactly the same, and as much as she tries to negate feeling like that, just the smallest thing can trigger a downward spiral.
We are all here for each other, so keep posting ( mostly positive 😂) and let’s just see where this season takes us!

I'm pretty close to this. For example I find it difficult to appreciate how well Vestergaard has done when I keep thinking yes, but if Enzo keeps basing his team around Jannik for this season, we may do well, but what about potentially being in the EPL next year with Vestergaard exposed to the guile and pace in the higher division - we'll get smashed every week!

I perhaps just need to focus on this year and enjoy it for what it is.

I don’t think I’ve ever witnessed a Leicester team look as comfortable as we do this season in my lifetime.

Even under Pearson and in the title winning year we won games playing well and looking good, but I’ve never seen my team look like they’ll see a game out or score again if we concede.

It’s almost comfortable and it’s strange. But I think I like it. At least for this season anyway and long may it continue.

I credit a lot of this to Maresca. Not for his tactics which are just Pep lite, but more for the way he’s created a winning mentality from a losing broken one. That is the biggest achievement this year and seeing a squad together and wanting to play games is massive from the shambles we saw last season. Fun.
