Wot no post-match ‘thoughts’ thread again?

Anyway … we needed a statement performance and win after mid-week and that first half was as good as it gets (even though DF in his post-match presser again bemoaned the lack of efficiency in front of goal).

At half-time, our stats were 5 shots on target and 4 goals scored. Excellent. Unfortunately they remained unchanged all through the 2nd half without a single additional shot on target. Am I being greedy? I know many on Earl’s match-day thread logically suggested some players should have been substituted in the 2nd half (which they eventually were) but I’d have liked to see us go on and score 6/7/8 and really thump someone.

Anyway, I’m delighted with the 3 points. Delighted for DF, Cry and DJ. I hope Rodon is ok as I’m afraid Coops nearly cost us dearly after he came on. Like Paddy, I think he’s finished as a 1st team regular.

Still in 3rd, but with Ipswich and Leicester both winning, it looks like we’re now playing to cement our place in the top 6. It’ll take some effort to chase down either of those and get autos. Let’s see.

Does anyone remember Robert Runcie (one-time Archbishop of Canterbury)? Bear with (it is Sunday after all) …

So, Dr Runcie once espoused a stunning piece of wisdom (imho) by saying that he was cursed with the ability to see all sides of an argument 😁.

Ennyhooo … looking at the above points, good ones all … perhaps the point of agreement on Coops is that:

(1) He shouldn’t play every game now (DF even infers this).
(2) He nonetheless deserves a place in the squad.
(3) He should, ideally, only play when Struijk is injured.
(4) Cresswell should be replacement when Rodon’s injured.

My Goodness, I feel my calling … 😂👍🍷

I read here and elsewhere that Cooper looked really rusty when he came on due to lack of minutes, Beren Cross said he was fortunate not to give away a penalty (I cannot comment as yet).
At least he is getting minutes, Cresswell, Gelhardt and Klaesson are not getting any competitive minutes at all. Obvious argument for loans come January.

I stayed till the end, but honestly never been has bored at a match second half.

But first half was unbelievable at times.

Rutter long range passing is top notch

Recommend not watching the second half then?

Fantastic result, really happy with that. At 4-0 I was hoping for every one to get a goal and was a bit peeved to lose the clean sheet. That is till I realized I had us to win 4-1.
Not happy with the booing of Bamford. I could never boo one of our own even if I think he shouldn't be playing.
Agree with others that kamara and ampadu are our preferred duo in midfield but Archie will get plenty of playing time. Hopefully that will be in midfield as Spence is almost back anyway.
Onto Leicester where I think if anyone is going to beat them it's us.
Hey us is the same as u.s. I must be a very stable genius. Lock me up.

It was a morale boosting win and brings DF closer to knowing his best team. We were playing against a dreadful team and in the first half, you couldn’t have asked for more. The drop-off in the second half is a concern. Yes, the game was won, but we completely lost our shape and allowed Huddersfield to come at us. We should be seeing our younger players coming on. This was an opportunity to give minutes to Cresswell, Joseph and Gruev. How often do we have the luxury of a game won at half-time? That said, if Rodon is fit for Friday, and we can stretch the first half performance over 90 minutes, we can ask serious questions of Leicester.

Me too and yes the second half was a damp squib. Job done though and the changes didn’t help. Best to keep them as fresh as we can and deal with any niggles before Friday.

Rutter is amazing. Have you noticed how many balls he plays without taking an extra touch. Just bang - finds the perfect pass.

So, I paid for and managed to miss the match using my VPN and a £10 match pass and thought I could watch the full match once posted but no, I have to pay another £3.99 for that.

Here's the rub, I can watch highlights, extended highlights, just joe watching the match, leeds fans watching the match and Huddersfield fans watching the match but without paying more money, I cannot watch the match.

Slightly fed up but it teaches me a lesson to check text time.
