ETH

I wouldn't sack him yet.
My defence is that last season, his first, was quite a success imo.

This season is only ten games in, losing to City is common to a lot of teams, because they are the best team in the PL.

Reasons. We have been without our first choice
Left fullback, Right fullback, Centre back.

A new keeper and striker are in important positions and have to settle, plus Mount on occasion.

Signings, we don't know who signed any of the new players, though we suspect.

We don't know who has a slight knock, a cold who will only play in emergency. Who's going well in training.

I don't believe for a minute ETH is blameless, Bruno and Rashy should have been dropped , at least for a while.
Personally I would like to see Mainoo and Mount given time to see what they can do.
A regular pattern of play which is attack based.
Subs made earlier, although many managers are the same.

So, barring catastrophy I would keep him until the end of the season, with the board keeping tabs on other managers, discussing who would be next in the event he gets the bullet.

If we beat Fulham ETH will be the quickest manager to get 50 wins in MU history
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yet we have "fans" who want him sacked. Some fans.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

We have also made our worst start to a season for over 40 years haven't we? We are clinging on to a CL group stage and we are miles off top 4 already.

Stats can work in lots of ways.

This first to 50 wins is a bit of nonsense too given we were in the Europa League. Some easy wins there. The domestic cup draws were also very kind to us.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Of it's going to be dismissed, you have your knives out! Agenda has to be driven ...😉

Form is temporary....

Yes, it's not been a great this season, it can't get any worse. It's a wake up call, call it what you like. I still think there is enough for Eth to turn it around and with Sir Jim's grand plan to assume control of football operations we might finally see some stability. Until these changes are made it would be stupid for the club to make a managerial change that the new manager will carry the can in 18 months time. What is the point?

Get the new DoF in place and start overhauling this lopsided squad!
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Knives are out for a good reason. We are crap. Everything is wrong. The tactics, the signings, the subs, the football even the fitness of the team is questionable.

You're living in la la land if you think ETH is surviving. Newcastle will add the next dagger to the heart midweek.

Are you even confident of beating Fulham away? I'm not.

Copenhagen away and Galatasaray away? I'd be amazed if we even get 3 PTS from 6 with his decision making.

He's had £400m to spend and we are a shambles. Can't defend these decisions anymore and I bleeding wanted him too. Erik was my first choice. He's badly let me down as he's made too many poor errors..
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Fitness ? He wants his former conditioning coaches from Ajax, not backed by Glazers. Not his fault.

The total spend again? It simply weakens your argument every time when you mention something he had no part to play in. He was backed, yes, but because we are shiiiit at negotiating we overpaid. We also identified the wrong profile of player over 10 years, how is that Eth's fault? Eth assumed control of a mess of a squad, how is that his fault? You can't overhaul an entire squad in 18 months especially players on very good contracts who no one else will have. I definitely question the Antony signing, too early to judge the rest.

We didn't invest in a ready made PL winning manager, we invested in a coach. Why? Because we tried everything under the sun and nothing worked. Rangnick outed the structure as the issue, recruitment as the issue. None of that has been changed yet.

Buck stops with the manager, I have no issue over thst, but let's not overlook context when we are blindsighted by agenda because we are finally fed up with the manager. We have hired and fired managers over ten years and we're still miles behind City. Hiring and firing managers has not worked!
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I see you're having a hard time coming to terms with what's staring at you in the face. You will join me soon.

Leaving Varane out for tactical reasons.....hahaha don't make me laugh.

Lindelof at left back over Reguillon?

He's not the only problem at Utd but he's definitely one of them. The Glazers don't tell him to drop Varane and play a crab CB at LB when he doesn't need to.

He's not up to this job. I think Rashford papered over massive cracks in his coaching last season too. Now his form has gone look what's left. Not a great deal.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I'll give him time. I'm frustrated like everyone else but knee jerk reactions are not helpful.

Let's not beat around the bush, we have the most expensively assembled pile of shiiit in world footy. It has no worth based on footballing merit to help us compete and close the gap. Eth simply does not trust them.

Nah this isn't a knee jerk. Far from it.

I'm reasonable with mt expectations. I'm not expecting us to win the PL yet or even come within 5points. We should resemble a decent football team now though after 18months and another £400m.

Worst start for over 40 years and -5 GD after 10 games.

He's running out of excuses now. Losses to Newcastle, Fulham and Copenhagen and he might be gone in the international break.

It's a long term project, put up with the short term pain! Yes, the table makes painful reading. My advice, stop looking, I stopped some time ago.

Give him a balanced squad with options to select "his" best 11 then judge him.

18 months in is too early.

I'm firmly in the "Eth needs time, new DOF needs to be in place" camp.

Where does it end though? Do you forgive another 5/6 losses before Christmas? No manager deserves unlimited time if they’ve clearly lost control of results.

Of course he could turn it around but if we’re on another 6/7 losses by Christmas it’s clear he doesn’t know what he’s doing

Given we play Newcastle twice, Liverpool away, Bayern H, Villa, Westham, Copenhagen A, Galatasaray A all before Christmas I'm not sure he even makes it to January.

Fulham away this weekend will be a struggle for us. Is anyone actually confident we go there and win? I'm not.

He's running out of time now. I think he's lost control of the job too.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the dressing room has started to go. You could kind of see such a situation happening with the way the club handled the outgoings.

The De Gea situation was handled terribly. Various other players are/were known not to be in the manager’s plans but we couldn’t shift them so they remain.

The Sancho situation can’t be pleasant for the squad. I think ETH is right on this, but Sancho will have his mates in the squad on his side I’m sure.

Also at any level of the game, if you’re playing in a team that is punching below its weight you do automatically start to question the instructions and the system as you know when it’s not working. And it’s not working for us.

He hasn't lost control of results. Three wins out of four. Quality of play is a different matter

Let's say we get Zidane in and season 1 he spends 250 million on 4 top players.

Being pragmatic, if this was our team in season 1 would we be better??

(I feel I have been sensible with the 4 new players in the below XI. Remember, Zidane is a footballing icon and 99.9% of top players would be desperate to play for him)

GK: Onana (we won't be able to shift him right away)

RB: Hakimi
CB: Varane
CB: Lisandro
LB: Alfonso Davies

CM: Bruno
DM: Casemiro (he'd be excellent ZZ again)
CM: Valverde (loves Zidane and would be a very realistic target for us under his management)

RWF Kulusevski
CF: Hojllund
LWF: Rashford

Those are 4 realistic signings and nobody can convince me that we wouldn't immediately be far better with them in the side and ZZ in the dugout.

if Erik still 'has the dressing room' then of course he should carry on in the best way he can in the environment and culture he has to work in. If the players in this squad are all still keenly working with and for him, then clearly he is the best option to get them to work collectively to win games. This squad of players isnt going anywhere soon and to boot him out right now and get somebody else in would be madness.
