United

Most here were expecting a beating. As was I.

Is he perfect? Far from it. Has he done some questionable things so far? 💯

Has he also made some huge changes for the better?✅️

But anyone wanting the Gaffer sacked is a cant. Full stop.

Why did Amrabat go off, was he injured?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

On a yellow card is the only reason I can think of.

That substitution made no sense and actually made the game easier for City tbh. Just one of countless decisions he got wrong today.

I know it's not the case but it almost feels like he's trying to get sacked and put out of his misery. Leaving Varane out, not starting his only available left back he has and then Amrabat one are difficult decisions to grasp against the best team in Europe currently.

I think he's had enough of the job quite frankly.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Just found it a really odd sub. Gave us control of the midfield, which up to that point was fairly even.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Nobody I was sat with could understand it and we presumed it was an injury. Turns out not.

I drove to the ground thinking Varane must have been ill or carrying a knock of some kind. Again he wasn't. Left out for tactical reasons.

I think the job is too much for him. It would be too much for most managers tbh.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I haven’t watched you much under him tbh. I do struggle to see any progress on what he’s trying to work on though from what I’ve seen. I don’t get what patterns he’s going for at all.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

There hasn't been any progress. We are averaging 0.4 goals a game LESS than under Solskjaer.

The easiest route to a Carabao Cup final possibly of all time has clouded a lot of our fans sadly. We had all hoke ties against teams we would be expected to beat 9 times out 10.

What I will say though is changing just the manager isn't enough. If that's all that's changing then nothing will change properly.

The gap to City is irrelevant at the moment. The gap to Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool should be what's most immediate and concerning. The don't have Pep or a Sheikh owning them so what they are achieving should be very much attainable for us.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah I agree. None of them have the wealth that you have so you should really be outperforming all of them.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
And we're not even close to doing so at the minute. The gap in performances is far bigger than the ever increasing gap in the league table. It all feels so predictable too. Was watching the game with a City fan and at 2-0 I asked him if he woke up this morning with any fear whatsoever that we'd turn them over. It was a rhetorical question and he duly responded with the one word "no" answer I fully anticipated. City aren't just better than us, we're not even a threat to them in a one off game
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Under Ole there was 9 derbies. We both won 4 and there was 1 draw. Obviously the trophies are what really matter and City won plenty and Ole didn't win any but to go back to your point.....the derby game itself at least had some jeopardy.

Under ETH we've won 1 and lost 3 and in the 2 of the games we've lost I don't think City even played at their best. Only the 6-3 really where they reached top gear.

He will be out soon. His signings are ultimately going to bring him down. Too many flops as per usual.

Yeah for all the question marks over effort etc it is the weakest United squad I've seen since I started following football 30 years ago. Tbf we've had a lot of good squads in that time but the be a worse squad than any in the last 10 years isn't good!

You're in a battle with Chelsea over who can spend the most and achieve the least.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Pretty much. Although the media really like Poch, so they keep trying to convince us Chelsea are playing well. Tbf they had looked better in recent weeks but were absolutely brutal after the first 20 minutes yesterday. Yet TNT Sports seemed intent on claiming they'd created loads of chances and should have been 3 up before conceding. That wasn't the case.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They are playing better, they are working harder, they have marginal increments. Chelsea will look better than us by the end of the year.

There are very few teams who don't look better than us right now 😭. Even the games we've won, we've been pretty fortunate to do so. We've been consistently rotten

There's not a single player that if sold unexpectedly in the summer I'd even care two 541t5 about.

Maybe 1 or 2 of the young players leaving before getting a proper chance would upset me but that's about it.

We have another 5-10 years in the wilderness at least now. Mistakes after mistakes eventually catch up on you.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why are you so obsessed with the United board, you’re always here spewing your bile

Shouldn’t you be trolling WBA?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Funny how you’re talking about bile, yet no mention about Clever who if he said the stuff he does on here to someone’s face, would probably be locked up in a mental hospital. Which tbf, he probably has already been in one or needs to have a stay in one sharpish.

Losing to City today wasn't the reason for dispair. They are a quality team and we aren't. It's how we lost and how the team was set up that got me angry.

Varane was fit and dropped for tactical reasons apparently. Shaw, AWB n Martinez already missing and this clown think it's the time to drop Varane too? Absolutely lost for words.

Only fit and available left back benched for Lindelof to play there instead? Another one that leaves you with more questions than answers.

His decisions need questioning. He's out of his depth quite clearly and it's showing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Evans is a considerably better passer of the ball than Varane, so there are tactical pros and cons. There's also a question of whether it's entirely a tactical decision or whether Varane (who clearly can't play twice a week throughout the season) would have been vulnerable / wouldn't have been 100%.

As for Reguilon, it's a question of tactical shape. He's an attacking full back who will bring more dynamism along the left flank but won't step in to become a third box defender.

We may discuss and disagree with ETH's decisions, but he's a manager who has navigated Ajax to a CL semi-final and took 18 points from a tricky looking group with a rebuilt Ajax team, and gave us our best season since Fergie retired. He knows more about tactics than all of his combined, and has spent more time thinking about the plan than any of us. "Out of his depth" just sounds like tabloid analysis to me. When managers fail at the top level, it's due to much finer margins than that. It's not due to obvious mistakes that all of us can see and would have avoided.
