Title form vs Title challengers

I think the press and socials have those mixed up. The simple thing that every hater needs to accept is Tottenham are in title challenging form (just like if we lost 8 games..many would say relegation form). This is not the same as announcing us as title challengers.

I personally don't think you mention title challengers or for that matter relegation battlers until Christmas. However you can see which clubs are trending towards each.

Historically, if we accept a title challenging team, shouldn't lose more than 5 games all season. This equates to roughly 1 loss every 8 games. So far we've gone 10 games without a loss. We've hit the first Milestone..

If we get to 16 games with 2 losses or less. Then we would have sustained the title challenging form to another Milestone.

Tough 4 games coming up. Let's see if we can sustain the form.

Not against Pep's City
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Last season they lost 5 and won, 2020 they lost 6 and won. 2 out of 3 of their last titles have been with 5 losses or more
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Against competition that gave up around late Feb/ early March.

They basically walked to those titles. Take them all the way and there's no room for error

I think it's too early to say that we're in a title race but our form and results cannot be ignored or dismissed as just early season luck.

I personally am just enjoying the ride and am ticking one game off at a time! Yes, there is the fear of injuries to key players, but equally they might not get injured. I'm hopeful that we'll still be in the mix by the New Year and if we are, then anything is possible!

----------------------------------------------------------------------

It looks fairly similar to the Gooners last year, play one game a week mostly - they rotated heavily for the Europa, start well and ride the momentum.

At some point though, City will just take it away from us - I said it would happen to the Gooners all of last season when some were panicking about them winning the title. Liverpool have had season where they have been near perfect and accrued 90 plus points only for City to win 15 on the trot and win the title by the odd point - even with our ridiculous record against them, we won’t stop them.

I would be very surprised if Liverpool don’t overhaul us also, they look back to their best mostly, although the defence is still penetrable.

CL qualification with good football we are playing will be a cracking start to the reign of Ange
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree that Liverpool are a big contenders this year too.

It will be interesting to see how things pan out as this season I think there'll be 3 or 4 teams (including us hopefully!) in the mix for the title, rather than just 2.

We all know what City are capable of, but I just don't think it's a given that they will replicate that long winning streak again this year.

In March they have Liverpool (away), Brighton (away) and Arsenal at home. I can't see them winning all of those games, plus they come to our place in April!

We just need to hang on in there and I hope we're there or thereabouts in March/April.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I think LFC are a little over reliant on Salah. He seems to stay pretty fit so they have rarely had to do without him. But he contributes so much to the team statistically but his pace is also a real worry for the opposition.

If they can keep him fit this season they will be up there but still not good enough to challenge City IMO, unless City drop their standards (sub 90 points)

Spurs only chance is if they reinforce well in January and have good luck with injuries. 1 game a week will be a huge benefit in the long run.

I always see the period from mid-Jan to mid-March to be the make or break of a season. Its cold, dark, fatigue and injuries take a toll, the end is still a long way off, and games come thick and fast with Cups and Europe. Its more of a grind and your season can almost be ended in this period.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Salah is unbelievable but we don't rely on him. Especially not now that we've got a proper threatening midfield.

In Jan we lose Biss, Sarr and Son. We have cover for Biss and Sarr in Bentancur and PEH but no one for Son.

IF Liverpool are reliant on Salah(I don't think they are) then we are defo reliant on Son.

As always Man City's class and strength in depth should prevail. I think Liverpool will finish 2nd.

I targeted Top 5 before the season and sticking to it. Anything above that would be great.

You wouldn’t want to go a 10 game league stretch without him though - he is irreplaceable in that Liverpool side, VVD also - the rest you can mask.

With City it’s Rodri and Haaland, they have learned to cope without KDB.

With Spurs it’s Romero, Micky, Udogie, Maddison, Son - we just don’t have the depth and so we need a lot of luck with injuries and a fairytale Leicester type season - it won’t happen, but we can dream for now

Jan should be a catalyst for us to spend again - if we look nailed on for CL then spend on Jan to cement it rather than waiting until the summer.

You will defo get a few Spurs fans over reaching and making silly statements.

Unfortunately it is in the DNA of our some of our fanbase. No matter how good or bad we are, they love to foreshadow success only for the end result to be a bottlejob.

This time could be different but the odds are stacked against us. It's Ange's first season anyway. We are well ahead of where we thought we would be at this stage. I'm enjoying it. We could even lose to Chelsea and come back down to Earth. They are still a bogey team for us.

We defo need a striker or someone who can play on the left too. Madder's cover, Udogie cover and CB cover as well.

Signing two players in January should be do able.

Yeah, hopefully raid Palace for Eze, Olise and Guehi - that would be my dream.

Not sure about Eze in the same way of signing Neto for example. Both would cost alot and have injuries issues.

Olise signed a new contract with Palace in the summer. He has done the same mistake as Zaha. Guehi would cost a fortune to be 3rd choice. After seeing Romero and VDV this season he would have to weigh up giving up 1st team football for a bench role. Under three years left on his contract.

Think we can cheaper alternative from abroad. We are good for HG and Non HG numbers. The english winger at Juve would be ideal for example.
