Ratcliffe is to invest £245m of his own money for infrastructure requirements.
Or so says this report.
Let's just get this over the line and get competent people on the football side. Let's face it had the Glazers done that themselves from the start, or at least from when SAF left, they wouldn't be hated like they are now.

£245m more than the Glazers have ever invested then.
If he's willing to spend 1.3-1.4bn on 25% and invest £245m of his own money into the club additionally then that's impressive. Not many business men would do that.
Could mean once he gets to 51% or even a bit more he could invest much more too.
He must have an agreement in place then for a full takeover. He'd not be doing this otherwise.
£245m is easy enough to fix up Carrington too and then some. That's not chump change.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Apparently partner the delay is negotiating how he gets full ownership. Glazers want to hang on like a Tick. Presumably, agreeing a schedule of acquisition and pinning a value on it is the sticking point. Glazers probably want it open ended so they can drop an over valued figure in a couple of years, or have a opt out option, whereas Radcliff wants to pin a valuation now or have some independent big 4 valuation at each acquisition step, with no opt out for the Glazers.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I give up trying to guess what's going on.
25% for £1.5bn values the Glazers collective shares at approx £4.2bn.
Why on Earh they wouldn't want to sell considering we are in need of huge investment whilst continuing to go backwards on the pitch, is staggering.

I feel this is going to be more of a venture investment than an acquisition. It will dilute existing shareholders rather than aquire their shares. It is a work around that means the public investors can't sue, and it keeps the Glazers onboard to see the future growth. Ratcliff will do a second round on investment in the future to get to 51%. Then when the club actually hits the valuation the Glazers want, they will find someone to buy the 49%, or float the remain on the stock market with Ratcliff retaining his 51%

I'd prefer this money be spent addressing the issues on the field, rather than the stadium getting wrapped like a 2008 Corsa,.and the training grpund getting a new swimming pool
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I believe the £245m doesn't affect FFP so that's probably why.

Correct.
The training ground is apparently not even that bad fron what I have heard too and when you watch the videos the club release from there it looks swish to me. Probably needs updating in a few areas but that's not going to cost more than 30/40m. You could probably build a new one for 100m.
The women's new training complex has just opened recently and I think that was an investment of around £10m just to put that into context.
The stadium needs the most money. It's absolutely appalling in a lot of areas. We now finally have WiFi although I have had issues with it which shouldn't surprise anyone.
The concourses and toilet facilities are outdated. The very well publicised roof leaking issues and some of the exterior which makes the stadium look abandoned from certain view points.
Jim will fix it. 😂

As long as the ground is safe and has some modern features to give the players the best possible chance of playing well then I don't think making it look ultra-modern is of the utmost importance. I'd hate to lose the likes of Old Trafford, Villa Park, Anfield etc and see them replaced with soulless bowls. It does absolutely need to be brought up to the standard required to hold a European Cup final though. That should be non-negotiable for a club like United.

We don't really need more seats either. Better facilities, a roof that doesn't leak and the exterior being tarted up a bit in places will be fine for now.
Hopefully the whole sporting structure is included in some of this expenditure too including a complete audit of the club.
Things are looking up. People pining for Qatar need to move on now as that offer looks long gone now.

I'll put my cards on the table here too and state I'm delighted that it seems we won't be state owned because it means the club chooses to be different to the other oil clubs.
The big clubs in England really don't need to be state owned. As for fears the Qataris will move to Liverpool I'm absolutely certain their fans wouldn't stand for it.

If this is the case - that it’s a stock dilution and more shares will be issued - surely that means the money goes in to the club and not straight to the Glazers?

The legroom of the currents seats is worse than a Ryanair flight. So I think long term that needs to change. The seats at the Emirates and - I assume - at Spurs new stadium - are far, far better than Old Trafford.
