Looking forward to Luton

Why you may ask?

Well, I've had a feeling for a few weeks that whilst some results and performances haven't always gone our way we could potentially give a team a beating too.

We've created quite a few possible openings this season but not capitalised on them. What if Saturday is the day? What if someone picks the right ball? What if we actually finish a chance or two? If we get ahead and the plan looks like its working perhaps the confidence will come flooding back?

It could all go wrong of course and we're here at 5pm on Saturday bemoaning another poor performance and result but, before games at least, we're allowed to be hopeful aren't we!

I will admit to being very disappointed last Sunday and Wednesday, and with the performance, but not result at Craven Cottage, but, in the cold light of day, as sad as it is, we're in no position to judge any progress against City, Newcastle and Fulham (A) and Copenhagen (A) when we have quite a few players out. It's the other games where we really need to see improvement.

So, in the spirit of there's no point being miserable before the game, I'm going for a good 4-1 v Luton.

We haven't got one area of the team that is functioning well. Defence, midfield and the attack are all sub par or worse.

The summer window was awful and the pre season was a joke. Everything has continued to snowball from there.

Can't share your optimism OP, I can't remember the last time I saw utd play very well.
I can't believe you've got as many points as you do.

I think it’ll be another Hag masterclass where we ground out a 0-0 match for 95 minutes and then when most our fans have fallen asleepor gone home and the opposition have given up caring, one of our players will get a lucky deflection and win us the match. Boom! Erik gets to fight another day.

These are modern classics that may not be appreciated in their time.

Diafol, please don't lose your optimism. We were superb for large parts tonight. If we can keep 11 players on the pitch we have a chance. We also need to stop giving away cheap pens.

Im happy to keep going with ETH atm. If we werent a man down we would have won comfortably. But doing so opened up a soft side with these players that he has to address yet about bottle, fighting and concentration when the chips are down. We miss the likes on Martinez in these situations Needs to sort that out quick. (Shame you werent as forgiving with Ole when he was on the ropes).

The common denominator is the owners and the players. We've been in this situation far too often now for it to be a coincidence and every time a manager is sacked it lets the owners and the players off the hook somewhat.

I'm convinced that once we rid ourselves of the uncertainty of the takeover/ownership situation we'll see an improvement like Newcastle when Ashley went. They then put the right people in place and have grown from there. It also helps that the players there know that if they don't perform they'll be replaced. A lot, if not all, of the players at United should feel that too. It doesn't get any better for any of them. They won't get a club with as much prestige as this ever again. Not one of them.

Not sure about the Ole comment but the rest is spot on.

Exactly, so many fans can see this yet are never too shy to publicly call for Eth's head, as if a disruptive change is the cure for current ills. It simply isn't. You do not solve chaos by introducing even more chaos!

We just need to ride through this rough period and hope Eth is given a chance to finish off what he has barely started.
