Robbie injured for Armenia match??

At the moment its touch and go as to whether record goalscorer Robbie Keane will be fit for the Armenia match.

I'm sure the Armenians will be rubbing their hands with glee if this happens. I personally don't regard it as too much of a blow to our chances. We will have our secret weapon Shane Long chomping at the bit to impress Trapatonni.

If Long manages to link up well with Kevin Doyle his old accomplice at Reading and score the winner i think Trapatonni will have a dilemna on his hands. Will he pick Robbie or Shane for the Play-Off matches ?

And how will Keane react if he is overlooked for Long as remember playing in the Euro Finals has always been a childhood "dream" for Robbie.

When Doyle, Walters, Long, Best or any other pretenders start to do the business on a regular basis you can throw that one at me. Until then. Robbie's our main man.

How can they do the business when that plank is still being picked, good riddance and if we do make the play-offs, I hope he's still injured.

You'll only realise how good he is when he retires. Beleive me, we will never have another striker who will come close to his goalscoring record. Doyle has 40 odd caps and 7 international goals, 2 of those against Andorra. He's been given enough chances to show he's not up to it.

Doyle has scored 10 now Frankos courtesy of his goal against Andorra but i agree thats a bad return for a striker.

I rate Robbie highly but he has not looked like he is on form in his last few matches possibly the effect of playing in the MLS maybe?

I could swear one of the RTE lads, Darragh Moloney perhaps, said that was his 7th goal. Anyway poor return regardless.

Looks like i'll have to rewrite the article. According to Sky , Cox is starting up front with Doyle instead of Long!!

Typical Trapatonni!!

Republic of Ireland team to play Armenia, Aviva Stadium, Tuesday 11 October, kick-off 6.45pm: Shay Given, John O'Shea, Sean St Ledger, Richard Dunne, Stephen Kelly, Aidan McGeady, Keith Andrews, Glenn Whelan, Damien Duff, Kevin Doyle, Simon Cox.

Trap certainly seems to have a hard on for Cox!

I'm here all week................................

I wasn't overly concerned with the loss of Robbie who has been a great striker for Ireland but isn't the force he was.

However when Trap passes over Long to replace him with Cox, now I am really concerned. WTF is Trap doing playing a bench warmer and passing over Long and Walters who are available to him. Is he setting his stall out for a draw? at home v Armenia? with Cox as a floating midfielder type behind Doyle.

It's becoming very difficult to defend Trap's ultra negative tactics. Of course we'll all be delighted if we qualify, however this might be one weird decision too many.

Don't worry there's plenty on here with rose-tinted glasses who will defend him at all costs, I love my country every bit as much but im fed up watching us play like we're wearing strait jackets and it may come home to roost tomorrow night, hope not but no long could be so long.
