Good riddance though like most horror movie characters I’m sure she’ll be back.

Brexit was a manifestos promise in 2015, and the Tories walked it.
While it was always a sop to the euro-sceptics of the party, whoever fought for Remain, including Cameron, failed abysmally!
I find it a strange criticism of Cameron that he gave the public a democratic choice, particularly when he was a Remainer. You could criticise him for a poor campaign, certainly.

I agree. The UK never voted to join the EU, or at least what it has become. Fair play to Cameron for giving the people the chance to vote on the matter. Although he did a poor job of pushing his remain agenda. It seems to me that he didn't really believe that the people would vote to leave.

Yeah, there was complacency from Remain compounded by Labours weak position on it.

Cameron called the thing to appease elements of his party but Corbyn, a Brexiteer for his political life, lacked any conviction in promoting his party's remain stance.
The Brexit camp in comparison had both barrels primed with rhetoric, slogans and BS.

It was in the Tory manifesto
The Tories were voted in
The folk of this Country voted leave.
A dreadful outcome but pure democracy in action.

Out of curiosity, did the manifesto establish the actual terms of the referendum - i.e. the questions to be asked, the majorities required, or was that the government's remit?

Wasn't all that bad an idea. You just forgot to leave a coin slot for us continentals to could pop in a Euro every time we strolled past your front door to demonstrate our gratitude for ridding us of the Tories.
All we need now is the likes of Orban to become desperate enough to think it would be a good idea too.
