Glad to see her 15 minutes of fame finally over.
I'm not exactly the biggest fan of what's his name but this is a good decision he's taken to get rid of miss thingy

For some reasons, I feel this is like Boris moment when he resigned from May’s cabinet, to become Tories leader later on. It will be between her and Farage
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Farage can’t even win a seat in parliament, he’s go no chance of being Conservative leader.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
As a Brexit party candidate maybe not, as a Tory he’ll pick a blue wall seat for an easy win
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No such thing as an easy win for any Conservative seat these days. They may get 10 seats at the next election.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sadly they'll still get plenty. Never underestimate the sheer stupidity of the English public, never.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
coupled with the ineptitude of the opposition.
If the Government were doing even a half decent job, they'd be back in again, no issues. The fact they've been so diabolical means this should be a tap in for Labour, but they have the equivalent of Nunez up front, this could still go wide!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Devonshire, do you seriously think the Tories have a cat in hells chance of forming the next Government? Labour may not be everyone`s choice, but the Tory Party is as good as finished. Sunak has been running away from an election. If he thought he had a chance, he would have called one. Surprised if Labour don`t come in with a 150 seat majority minimum. They will take all the so called Red seats back,. lots of the SNP in Scotland, and Libdems will decimate the Tories in the South.
The games up for the Tories mate.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think you are probably right and of course, they have no chance whatsoever if it were called now.
But that is not to say any one is running away from an election, it's a five year term and very rarely do PMs go early and when they do its viewed cynically as opportunism.
Nothing surprises me tbh. These last 5 years have been incredibly tough, globally, and we just seem to be coming out of the other end of it. If the Tories can manage to stabilise and bring a bit more calm, then it may well be a bit closer than some expect.
The Cameron move is interesting with Braverman gone. May be not a vote winning play but certainly a shift more central.
The demise of the Tory party, torn apart by divisions, is predicted almost as regularly as they change leaders!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I really think if the First past the Post system is removed then we might actually see the back of the Tories
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And we might see a genuine alternative to Labour or Tories.
Which is why it won’t happen.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There is no genuine alternative but you would see their dominance watered down by other fringe parties, which opens the door for some of the more unpleasant ends of the political spectrum to gain genuine representation and the increased probability of coalition govt. None of that is attractive IMO

They say a week is a long time in politics. Well a year must be like a century then!
Labour look a shoe in right now but don’t think it will be easy. They usually implode at some point.

Think it's certainly worth trying PR rather than FPTP. For so many voters their vote means literally nothing with many constituencies being a sure thing for one party or another.
Yes you might well get some unsavoury fringe types ending up in parliament but isn't that what democracy is supposed to be? Representative of the people.
It's a flawed system regardless, with money and media influence distorting reality and often convincing those more easily conned into voting against their own interests. Under FPTP though, it really offers so little in terms of genuine voter representation, half the time people essentially vote because they don't want the "other" party in. Rather than supporting the policies of the party they're actually voting for.
The standard of politics and politicians in the UK is at an all time low, the system isn't working and is only getting worse, lot's of things need to change including the honor's and lords system along with the abuses of lobbying post (or during!) servings terms.

Yes without doubt. The current government has little bit extremists left remaining after the multitude of feck ups and revamps.

The UKIP lot apparently infiltrated the Tories. Problem ith a two party system (essentially that's what we are for most parts).
