Bayern Munich are considering a move for Tottenham Hotspur’s Eric Dier.
Bayern Munich has been linked to versatile Tottenham Hotspur defender Eric Dier at various points in recent months, but ahead of the winter transfer window, the rumors are starting to spike again:
Bayern Munich have reportedly added Eric Dier to their transfer shortlist. That’s according to a recent report from Football Insider, who claims Thomas Tuchel is keen to bring the Spurs defender to the Allianz Arena in the upcoming transfer windows.
Only gifted game time recently due to an injury and suspension to Mickey van de Ven and Cristian Romero, respectively, Dier, 29, who has fallen down the Lilywhites’ pecking order, is a candidate to leave London in the New Year.
And with Bayern Munich targeting a new defensive player, the 29-year-old, due to his versatility and ability to play in midfield or at centre-back, is thought to be high on the Bundesliga giants’ list.
A move in January could happen, but Ange Postecoglou’s willingness to lose another defender will likely depend on Van de Ven’s progress back from injury. Failing that, the former Sporting Lisbon star could see out the remainder of his contract and leave on a free transfer in the summer.

Well now, I know a lot of you on this JA606 are just wishing Levy would sell Dier. The player does seem to have lost the form that had Southgate putting him in the National squad. So I thought I'd just bring the good news ....or rather the good rumor!

Doubt he would come in Jan. Micky will be back hy then so he will have to settle for a place on the bench. Might as well stay at Bayern.

Happy to stand corrected but I seem to remember that Dier played DM a while back didn't he?
Was he no good there as well, seems a decent guy when I have heard him interviewed but gotta think that his time at Spurs is up?

He hasn't got the legs to play in midfield. He has sucked up to Jose, Nuno and Conte. Cost us goals and their jobs. He didn't help Poch either. He is the one constant over the last 5 or 6 years in our defence. Watch the Wolves goals again and he does nothing.

A player I’ve always found difficult to warm to, he just isn’t and in my opinion has never been good enough.
The last few years we have been a calamity with him playing. He has gone down the Robbie Keane route in his dotage, he just stands there screaming and pointing at others whilst constantly backing off the opposition.
Finally, he is totally unsuitable for Ange’s high line and we have vastly better central midfielders than him - out of contract in the summer, the club can finally move on

Dier was good at DM in a very specific system that involved him dropping back in between the CBs in possession so the full backs could bomb on. It worked because he's OK at positioning when he has a good cb either side of him, and his distribution is OK for a defensive player.
Hopelessly immobile in a system that requires him to move more though. Wouldn't play him in midfield any more, even if all Spurs' other midfielders were unavailable
