I have tried in vain to discover information about Crewe which might point to possible success on Saturday. My recollections of past encounters are not encouraging. We seem to have lost there even when everything pointed to success.
They have had a really good recent record. The performance and result at Accrington elevates our chances on paper and another angle of hope could be that we have rarely got a decent outcome when we have not played well. So this may be the game when we are fortunate and get a win without actually outplaying them.
On the other hand, we might be at our absolute best and win through sheer merit.
However, my forecast here will be pessimistic and I can then only be cheered up if I’m wrong. 3-1 (Ironside) to Crewe.

Questionable? All the shots that led to goals were straight at Jones and he didn’t stop any of them.
Just how long will it take for management to realise that he is completely incompetent? He really has cost us goals the whole season long and he is no good at his job.

The Crewe fans thought we were the better team and should have won it.

That's the pity - we are let down by one or two weak links and team selection is the Manager's role alongside the good work done in successfully developing its strengths.

I stopped watching at 2-2 as at the moment I'd predicted everything correctly and did want to see us lose, and should have said "Ban added time!" I think the score should read Rovers 2 Jones 3 as he should have stopped them all. However, how can we just let defenders run right through our so-called defence? That and missed chances cost us again.
I won't be able to watch Tuesday's game because of other commitments - pity to miss one when I do not have to surface for a 07:00 kick-off!

Yes, we can all see what the problem is so why can't GM? Though he doesn't currently have options for a sound keeper he does have players he can coach to be better defenders.

My views on Jones are well known. He lacks power, so does not seem able to punch the ball clear, or catch it, "palming" it instead, which often means it doesn't go very far, often to another attacker in the box. He is not really athletic enough to get across his goal, so if a shot is out of his immediate reach he watches it and "has no chance". He does not come out for crosses and cannot "make himself big" which seems to be due to his limited athletic ability and his slow reactions, so he does not even stop the shots that are driven straight at him. Apart from that...
