This is how this season has been so far, it’s not been entertaining stuff like last season. Last season, especially from start till half way point, teams couldn’t cope with us. Defensively we weren’t bad, but couldn’t keep clean sheets at home.
This season, defensively we are better, but offensively we’ve lost that edge. However one thing that’s more certain is that this team has been set up to ensure goals aren’t leaked so easily. Watching Arsenal now it’s starting to feel like the team knows it’ll get a goal, so there’s no need to keep attacking. It’s all about picking your moments. Sure we could do with scoring more goals, but this is where second half of the season we will improve on. So far Arteta has tinkered a fair few times with the set up and personnel. Pep last season was the same, till he found his best XI early part of the second half of the season. Arteta is looking at the same thing, many successful teams in fact do this.
As I said, we’ve not been eye catching, but I feel confident we will not be beaten when we go into any game. The loss in PL to Newcastle came down to a controversial VAR goal. The loss to Lens came from them scoring two very good goals. West Ham in league cup was genuinely a rubbish performance. I’ll take that.
We are solid

Only problem with the total football, possession based style of play is that if you concede the first goal, especially away from him, it's very difficult to turn it around.
Newcastle is the prime example

I think this is something we will have fixed around new years hopefully when we buy a striker

I just can't see us outlaying £60 - 80M on a striker in Jan

The controversial Newcastle goal would never have been a talking point if Raya was worth his salt. Never overlook that. It will come back to haunt us.
