It is clearly a marketing study. They put out a story about Martial getting a new deal, then a week later put out a story about him not getting a new deal. The aim isn't to gauge fan opinion, it is to gauge activity from each. The amount of clicks, shares, comments etc. So that they can learn and adjust content in future.

There is literally no actual news worthy of publishing about transfers for about 90% of a season, but they need to be putting stories out every day so it is almost all just nonsense. But it is what kind of made up nonsense the marketing guys need to be focusing on, to generate the most activity.

BBC get it as well. In their gossip section, they put things like Barkley to leave Luton in summer, MANCHESTER UNITED (in bold) not thought to be interested.

None of anything is real.

Martial is real, I've seen him

Think he gets a bit of a rough ride to be honest. His career has been blighted by injuries and he's not had that same explosiveness we saw when he burst onto the scene for quite some time.

He had a really excellent 2019/20 season but injury and form ever since has deteriorated badly. He still managed 9 goals for us last season despite another injury hit campaign in fairness. He should have been moved on in the summer and another striker signed to rotate with Hojlund.

Shame that his talent was never fulfilled. The season he went to Seville should have been his last for us and if we'd had a competent footballing department, he wouldn't still be here.

It all went downhill for him in every way possible after his sulk at losing the number nine shirt to Zlatan, I think it was.
