Highlandwhite Matchday Thread =================================================
Kick off 8pm, Live on Sky sports and Talksport 2
Must be getting sick of the sight of me but here we go again to Matchday 21 and what may be one of the toughest away games this season
Team news
LEEDS
Missing Byram, Shackleton and Firpo with a few other players suffering from a flu bug meaning DF is not selecting his team until close to kick off
SUNDERLAND
No changes from Saturday's game and expected to start with the same XI that best West Brom.
Sunderland are lying currently in 6th position with 2 wins 2 draws and 2 defeats in their last 6 matches. No doubt Jack Clarke will feature heavily for them and watch out for their highly rated young full back Trai Hume, signed from my local team Linfield.
Expecting a tight game with few goals and not sure who will be fit so will go for a 1.1 draw with Summerville on the scoresheet once again.
Over to you all for predictions and line ups.
Come Onnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn Leeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeds!!!
MOT
Can we go Live once again please Admins
Leeds Utd 0 Sunderland 1

Yes subs were far too late. Kamara and Ampadu look knackered but we dont really have an alternative in cm. Gnonto deserves a start.

I remember watching the defeat to Sunderland in the FA Cup final (yep, that old!). It's silly, but because of that defeat - one of our most painful ever - losing to Sunderland still rankles.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Me too. I was there!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Wow Stoopo - that's a dubious distinction. That kind of defeat wouldn't hurt so much nowadays but back then the FA Cup was considered to be almost as important as winning the title"
Back then you had the European cup and the european cup winners cup!..
That's when the Champions were Champions and not like todays farce and a reason the cup was more thought off!..

Yeah I know guys we can still do it and if I remember correctly in Bielsa's first season we were a similar distance ahead of Shef Utd and in the second half of the season they overtook us fairly comfortably but tonight we just looked like a tired side compared to Sunderland and January needs to see 2 or 3 addictions and also I thought the balance of the side without Byram wasn't good so the quicker he returns the better.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh yeah we were 10 ahead of blades after 24 games
Even the following season us and wba looked comfortable after the new year draw and by February it was all to play for again. wba took until last game to secure 2nd and it was handed to them on last day!

Yep the fat lady hasn't even done her warm up vocals yet so plenty of games but it still hurts when we lose and everything seems bleak when you see Ipswich have won yet again but a good performance and victory on Saturday will soon get us back on track and the optimism flowing again.

Also I do wonder whether an extra man in midfield for away games would make more sense so sacrificing one of the forward 4 might be on Farke's mind after tonight's blow par performance and it wasn't exactly sparkling stuff at Blackburn iether but we got away with it.

Just reading my last point could imply I was advocating some kind of human sacrifice by Farke but I don't think they were that bad tonight so I'll let them live to fight another day for now. We'll see how the season progresses before we get to those North Korean levels of punishment for having an off game.
Anyway I'm rambling to my sad self now so I'm off to bed.
Sweet dreams 👍

Fortunately I was there the previous year when we beat Arsenal. However that only made the Sunderland defeat harder to take 🤣🤣

I was in London for the weekend when Leeds played Arsenal, my Mam and Dad packed me and 2 of my brothers in the car and traveled down from Keighley, that was just short of my 14th birthday!..
No idea how my mother stopped me and my brothers from killing eachother stuck so long in the car together, think my dad wished he'd stayed at home!.
But it was fun when we won, a good old Yorkshire family stuck with a Cockney family, my cousins weren't at all happy!.
With a ManU ma and pa and a brother, a Chelsea brother and me, I think I was the happiest!.
