So, if this new Super League becomes a thing and Barca, Real, Juventus, etc are all loving life in this new league, and after a few years the PL clubs are looking in from the outside and wondering whether to join..
Who do we think would be the first PL club to join? The club most eager for that extra cash by joining them?
5* Man United
4* Arsenal
3* City
2* Chelsea
1* Liverpool
(& The rest, IE Spurs, now NUFC)
I would have said United, but with the Glazers looking to now cash in over the next decade I'd imagine, maybe that won't be the case.
I think financially LFC and Chelsea are going to need some extra income for various reasons (stadium, contracts), so probably these two first
Hypothetical Scenario: Super League

This new league is nothing without full input of up to six teams from the Prem...we'd all have to agree to join...or at least four of six

I'm not sure, I think on the continent the league could start without PL clubs.
Convince say AC, Inter, Napoli, Benfica, Porto, maybe the odd Russian and German team and a few French teams and they could start from there
Not as glamorous as initially envisioned but if this league is to take off it's gonna have to start with some of the less famous clubs me thinks

Yeah I think the pl gets overvalued. It would still do massive numbers and with the money rolling in the PL teams would be attracted like flies to shiiiit, because money is all they care about

German teams are culturally unlikely to join. Supporters have genuine power as stakeholders and this is wildly unpopular with 'legacy fans'.

Whilst I agree, I think the free to view is the ESL carrot. Did the Bundesliga not go down that route initially believing that advertisers would pay more for a larger FTV audience and stadium advertisers ditto then they realised that the other leagues with pay tv deals were racing away financially and now they are stuck paying similar amounts as UK to watch all games?
It is also something the UK fan groups have moaned about too but that moan seems of lesser importance than their ESL moan? Actually, I'm not sure what the ESL moan is all about in England? Clubs already compete in competitions run by different organising bodies and the ESL would just be another one?
If, as is widely touted, UEFA split their regulation and competition divisions like F1, isn't that just the same thing? For me, anything that reduces the power of the already corrupt, money grabbing, arrogant shower of sh.t that is UEFA and FIFA is a good thing even if it is just for another corrupt, money grabbing, arrogant shower of sh.t. Competition is good.

A super league will definitely happen and English clubs will definitely be involved.

The free to watch games will certainly be appealing, if English clubs go too, sky will be in real trouble

BTW, I don't doubt that if it somehow consolidated as the premier or indeed only Euro tournament that the FTV would then suddenly be ditched.

Absolutely. Sky will see to that, they have a history destroying competition through very dodgy means. I’d expect them to have make moves, legit or not, to prevent it, you’d see the usual tame paid mouthpieces like Neville spouting their agenda publicly.
