Being there

When we had players dropping like flies, whether suspensions or injuries, we all winced at the prospects of the team being left behind by the top 4 teams in points terms and beng a huge point gap to the top 4, and ending up somewhere in midtable at best.

Well, by Xmas, we are only 4 points behind Arsenal with key players out

Great mental strength and effort by the team. Players who came in for the suspended ones or injured ones, have put in some shift and showed plenty of endeavour to pick up points and keep in touch with top 4.

I think we don't talk about this new found mental strength because we like to listen to trolls and their "Spursy" label. Well, where is "Spursy" now?

Funny how Villa ballsed up their game to go top, and yet got rave reviews for hanging in there and salvaging a point. The same narrative is not afforded to Spurs. Had that been Spurs against Sheff Utd and dropping 2 points, the old narrative of "Spursy" would have been used. Definitely some of the media drive this narrative.

After a disastrous November, the fact we are only FOUR points off the top shows, how good this side is. Who knows where Spurs would be if we didn't have players like Vdv, Madders and Bentancur missing.

Their return is just that much closer and we need to continue the momentum.

As soon the transfer window is open, we need to bolster the squad, starting from a quality CB. Todibo is one name being seriously linked with us, but he is in demand so won't be a case of just getting him. Darguin is another player liked with us, and hose agent had apparently had initial chat with the club.

In terms, another alternative striker to the in form Richy, anyone would consider Bournemouth's Dominic Solanke? I think he is a good option but does he suit the tactics? Yes, I think so. He's very mobile and runs at defenders, as well as score goals with head both feet and put himself in the right places.

We deffo need to bolster the squad and give Ange some options so he can at least, play players who fit the system rather than just patching the side up, like he is doing now.

Whatever the media are clamouring about, Spurs are going about our job quietly without any over the top media fanfare.

Happy Holidays all

Before the game yesturday, one of our fans was talking about about a title challenge if we beat Everton. True story.

Not completely, but mostly rubbish.

Wolves and West Ham, no further evidence required.

We've ridden some luck as well, Everton deserved more yesterday, but...

Davies, Dier, Royal, Skip, PEH, Lo Celso all played yesterday and are nowhere near the quality of our first 11.

It is pretty much the team that folded in the league cup, so we'll done to them, but it has nothing to do with a greater mental strength. These players don't have it and cannot get it.

Brighton is gonna be a long day!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
🤔 Davies has been pretty much our best player in recent games behind Vicario. Lo Celso has looked good when he has played and yesterday was our most creative player once he came on. Royal has been played in numerous different positions and has looked good apart from losing the ball for Everton’s goal yesterday.
Why do Spurs supporters look for reasons why things go wrong when we should be looking at the reason we are still only 4 points off the top of the table.
Yesterday we had Billy Nick criticising Vicario when he has been arguably our player of the season so far.

We kind of got away with it yesterday. It had the look of another 3 points we were going to throw away. On another day it would have been. Luckily in this one we managed to go 2 goals up, and our opponents weren't as clinical as they could have been.

It definitely shows how precarious we are when we miss a few of our top players. January is going to be really tricky to navigate with our prime goalscorer out. We should be keeping tabs on some attackers already who have an eye for goal.

Toney is the obvious one for everyone but expensive and likely to get snatched by a club offering more.

Has Gift Orban turned his form around yet?

The same Spursy that means you've gone nearly 16 years without a trophy and finished 3rd in a 2 horse race 🙂

There are a fraction of Spurs fans like the OP and others who do not live in the real world most people do. Take Bill Nick for example. He has a weird obession with Whitney Houston and talks to himself in a thread he created just for her. Spurtle has started to reply to his comments on this thread asking question when he could just google the answer.

They are abit unhinged but it makes for a funny read 😂 but as to why they are on a downer after a win? God knows mate. Some were on their period again in the match thread and were sulking at FT yday lol.

Realism instead of Partisan

Davies has been much better than last year, but yesterday's performance is never far away. Lo Celso and Royal, good squad players.

You can play with one or two squad players as they are complimented by the 1st team. Overload it (like we are having to do) and people start to compromise the way they play.

Good result, good effort, but boy were we lucky

Honestly, you guys leave me aghast.

Nothing I have said is even controversial.

Our back up, behind the 1st team are incapable of playing Anges way.

I'm not being overly critical.

If anything I have said is factually incorrect, please quote and highlight.

(Please note,: I have been drinking (and actually still am)

I have to agree with everything GG says here.

As for this..........
"Davies, Dier, Royal, Skip, PEH, Lo Celso all played yesterday and are nowhere near the quality of our first 11."

What the hell do you think Levy will go out and buy that's better?
