Notts County may have a lot more going for them at the moment than Rovers and playing there in front of a big hostile crowd could be a bit of an overwhelming experience for our team. There is nothing that they can do to neutralise the advantage except to play a good deal better than they have recently. Even then, it may not be enough. I do remember an occasion way back when Rovers were doing really well and got a great crowd to play Notts County who were doing really badly, so a nailed-on home win - and we lost 4-0. I looked it up and it was 1959. I also remember too, in the mid 60s, when County, again with their fortunes very low, we would usually go to the away fixture to a largely deserted Meadow Lane and we would manage to lose there too. The final Nottingham memory was a happy one. It was in that crunch first season back in the Championship when we were rock bottom at Christmas playing Forest (who admittedly were struggling too) and we won and never looked back.
Beyond that I am not going to indulge in further detailed (depressing) analysis except to say County have lost a bit of form recently, so they could be vulnerable, but perhaps not to us!
So, the sentimental hope is what Iām clinging to and consistent with that 1-0 to us - Anderson/Faal.

A Very, Merry, Christmas to all!
Let's hope the County lads eat too much Christmas Pud! I think the best we can hope for is a draw, and I'll say 1-1. Molyneux if he starts, or otherwise Faal.

We seem to have completely lost it. Let's hope that January dealings can breathe new life into us. We know that GM is a good manager but we need something now to change the mood and momentum.

It makes you wonder how the improvement which was becoming visible a month or so ago has gone into reverse. They don’t play like the same team. They have stopped tackling, can’t pass the ball and don’t look fit. They are embarrassingly bad.

I still wonder whether there are slight injuries amongst those playing that we're not aware of, i.e. the fittest of the unfit. After years of punching above our weight as a club, for the past few years we have punching well below our weight. Where are the characters on the pitch to pull us through this? Current performance is unacceptable.
