Tonight’s game

Anyone else just simply not bothered?

If it’s on in the pub I’ll have an eye on it but I really couldn’t care less.

Fans have now resorted to fighting each other now and too stubborn to just admit they were wrong.

I wanted ETH to replace Ole. I don't deny it. I called that one badly wrong. He's clearly not cut out for this job at all.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Just to be clear, when you say “fans”, you mean you. And when you saying “fighting each other”, you mean that you’ve resorted to lashing out with straw man arguments like a baby.

Could well be ETH's last ever home game in charge if if it's another bad one.

I'm going for a 1-1.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
You sound almost …hopeful
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Trying to be positive but it's getting very hard to be. This manager has decided to spend £400m on a load of crap.

Meanwhile somebody like Elanga who he sold now has something like 14 attacking returns for the season playing in a team that has obviously struggled more than
we have. That's 14 more than Antony. 😂
----------------------------------------------------------------------

You repeating false arguments.

1. ETH is not the scout, head of recruitment or chief transfer negotiator. Bad signings or over priced players are a club issue, not an ETH.

2. Elanga has 4 goals & 5 assists in PL. Better than most of our players indeed - including your favourite, Rashford.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Here's another dummy right on cue....

Most losses before Christmas day since 1931. No goals in 4 games. Out of Europe. Out of the cup we won.

Stop trying to put the blame elsewhere. The manager is crap and must go.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Where did I defend the manager’s performance on the pitch/training ground?

Please quote.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

You're trying to excuse ETH over players HE wanted. It's absolutely comical.

You may have a point about the price not being negotiated very well and I have never argued otherwise. But don't tell me it was Murtough who wanted Onana, Mount, Antony etc. It was ETH.

The fact he shouldn't be doing that job at the club which we ALL agree on by the way doesn't excuse him totally. He's spent a fortune on players not as good as the ones he's let go.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I’m not excusing ETH. You’re a bit simple so I know it’s tricky for you to understand, but if a club hires a manager to coach the team but then don’t have the competence or structure in place to perform its other core footballing duties and instead gives too much say on matters beyond the expertise and jurisdiction of the coach then the results will be *predictably* poor as well as very short term. Our entire recruitment operation have been a shambles under successive managers. HINT: the problem (in that department), is not the manager’s.

You’re also assuming you know exactly which players ETH wanted whereas we know in reality that clubs have 3 or 4 options pre-selected for each position they are looking at. We know FDJ was ETH’s priority signing or a player of that mould and he didn’t get him.

It’s also been strongly reported that ETH wanted Kane, but transfer fees & wages spent in the first summer meant it was never viable (another good example of poor medium & long term recruitment planning from above).

I’ve not been impressed with what I’m seeing on the pitch, and am happy to direct criticism towards the person responsible (though it must be accepted that we have a injury-depleted squad that is full of kids and average players) for team performance. But I’m not going to criticise the manager for failures of the club as a whole. He wasn’t signed to be a scout, a DOF or a negotiator. It’s not complicated.

I guess my wording was wrong that I’m not bothered but I’m disillusioned with it all at the moment. Anyway I hope for some positivity tonight but that team doesn’t fill me with confidence.

I'll be watching and fully supporting. Surely any fan of any club would do that, regardless of current woes?

That’s the norm, dude is obviously a fair weather glory hunter type fan.

Glad we cleared that up.
