Defence

I've liked some of what poch has done and I've not liked other things, the biggest amongst them is what hes done with our defence. He's been hell bent on playing colwill out of position at LB all season, regardless of his performances there. I understand we've had injuries too but we've regularly played CBs at full back, LBs at RB, RB at LB, and now a LB at RW. I must admit I'm surprised as spurs defensive unit under poch was one of their strong points. On top of that I feel like we have an impending decision over our number 1 keeper coming. With what we currently have available who would you field v Luton and going forward. Currebtly id go for petrovic, Gusto, colwill, Silva and maatsen.

Our defense is, I agree, fragile to say the least !
I've just arrived back from the back of beyond, and caught sight of most of the second half against Luton, it was not pretty to see !

Protect silva? Why? He’s our most mobile and quickest cb. And our best

Explain? He’s still rapid and reads the game better than anyone, just look at him outpacing son and Nunez this season alone. Disasi particularly is much slower than him

No idea why we are criticising the defence today, its laughable - they were outstanding.

They were absolutely resolute up until that first goal.
Can't blame them for that, Barkley's decent header after getting between Madueke and Palmer.

Problems really started with the introduction of Nkunku and Enzo who just didn't hold the ball up at all, just kept coming back mainly wide and particularly through overloads on our right hand side.

Madueke was working hard to track back and help out Gusto all game. When Madueke got subbed Cole went out to his position. Doughty and Chong doubled up on Gusto but Cole wasn't tracking the spare man.

Second goal came because Cole didn't go with Doughty, who had the header which keeper parried.

Poch then subbed Cole, brought on Gilchrist, moved Gusto to LB and brought Levi into the middle I assume to try and ensure we had the three biggest players in the middle to deal with the crosses.

Couple of magnificent interceptions/clearances in the 6 yard box from Silva i think it was.

Very proud of the entire team today, a few players having played 3 in 6 days, gave absolutely everything.

Special shout out for Jackson as well, tracking back in the final minutes to win an important challenge in the 6 yard box.

Didn't quite work out for Broja, Enzo and Nkunku but can't fault their effort.

Massive win for the guys - thoroughly enjoyed it.

Good analysis. Defence starts from the front

Yeah can't blame the defenders for the shet show we seen in the last 30 minutes. Poch messed up badly with his tactics.

Like against United they had all the time in the world to spam crosses into the box. Should've brought on Maatsen at LWB and pushed Colwill to CB.

He's not rapid lol. He's not slow by any means but without his uncanny ability to read attackers runs before they do he'd struggle vs. quick players. He needs that extra yard he creates for himself.

This might not be why Pochettino does this, I'm just theorizing, but if that is in his thinking I get it - build around your best players

The article was pre game, nothing to do with the Luton result, just a general observation.

No more so than any of our cbs. He’s probably the quickest of them all
