99, I think you’re taking Dublins comment on Cannon too seriously, I think it’s meant a little tongue in cheek with comparison, it’s only a couple of weeks ago you made a comment that Cannon wasn’t for this season and run’s around like a headless chicken. He’s been given two starts and has three goals, I just hope he keeps banging them in for the benefit of us all, not to prove anyone right or wrong.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
At no stage did I say Cannon wasn’t for this season. I said he was one for the future - and he is. His substitute appearances weren’t great - but every striker needs playing time to develop. I absolutely stand by what I said - he came on at a time when Leicester fans were slagging Patson Daka off once again - and ran around like a headless chicken contributing nothing.

He’s been given opportunities and is showing promise - but just remember the opposition he’s playing against. Vardy has done it at the very top level. While Dublin may be tongue in cheek - I’m getting sick and tired of Leicester fans desperate for Cannon to be the next Vardy from the moment we signed him and favourably judging everything he does. Meanwhile that slag off anyone that doesn’t fit the new ‘Jamie Vardy’ tag (Daka, Iheanacho, Musa, Slimani, Kramaric, the list goes on)

And to clarify - when I said Cannon was one for the future - that doesn’t mean he shouldn’t have a role this season. I never said that at all - it’s just Leicester fans are demanding he’s the first choice striker because he fits their perception of what a no.9 should be. It’s frankly pathetic

99, you didn’t let me down with your response. 😉.
I remember you saying the things I quoted ( maybe not word for word) as on the very day you made the remarks, I had been watching Tom Cannon on YouTube scoring goals for Preston. I’d thought he looked very capable, about two hours later you were suggesting he was not looking the part ( headless chicken) and wouldn’t be ready for us this season. I was a bit shocked and it stuck with me. I’m not crying out for him to be the next Vardy, I just want him to be Tom Cannon and “ know where the onion bag is”. It seems he does and if he did it at championship level for Preston , he can do it for us.
99, I gather you have a few problems, I respect that, don’t take my reply as some sort of challenge ( you may well choose to 😉) . Basically I think he’s ready at this level.

I didn’t say he wouldn’t be ready for us this season. There’s absolutely no way that was said - find the quote and put it on here if you need to. You can’t intimate I said things I didn’t Appleton.

What I said was that he hasn’t been signed for this season. What I mean by that is Leicester didn’t sign him to be a first choice striker. When Vardy, Ian and Daka are all available - he won’t be. He’s getting his run because he’s the main option right now. When they come back - I’m pretty sure he’ll be heavily rotated again

In no way did I suggest Cannon wouldn’t have some part to play this season - the reason I called him a headless chicken is after every Leicester fan was criticising Enzo for not playing him - he came on in a couple of games and offered nothing.

He has now started and he looks very promising, but he’s 21 and he’s got a long long way to go. Leicester fans have been desperate to label someone as the new Vardy for years - overlooking anyone else who doesn’t look or play like him. Not saying that was you - but Cannon, from the moment he signed, can do no wrong - while everyone else in that position is getting dogs abuse.

That’s pathetic. That’s Leicester fans for you

As an example of what I’m talking about - Daka scores 4 goals in 5 games I think. Gets absolutely slated by Leicester fans on here during that period for missing a couple of sitters. His goals are dismissed as tap ins, despite the fact that when Vardy scores a tap in it’s credited to his movement and awareness.

Cannon on the otherhand misses 2 clean through one on ones today. One of which he tried to buy a penalty by falling over and the other was just a poor finish - although it was an awkward angle. Guaranteed if that was Daka or Ian there would be dogs abuse from people on here. Cannon and Vardy of course can get away with anything

Just one thing, I think it was a penalty. I agree you with how people see other strikers, Vardy can get away with stuff that Daka can’t, but Vardy is a bit of a legend, but only a bit player now.
I will try and search for what I believe you said, it was only 2-3 weeks ago, I think.🤔

I’m pretty sure I said he wasn’t signed for this season or words to that effect. And I absolutely stand by that. He’s been signed for the future - he’s a kid learning his trade. He’s scored 3 goals in 2 games against awful championship opposition. I’m not knocking it - I think he’s a very promising signing - but I’m equally not showing the ridiculous favouritism others are. The treatment of Daka on here has been nothing short of disgusting. I get it with players like Soumare to an extent - but Daka has been slagged off since pretty much the moment he walked through the door. Cannon on the other hand is about to have his statue unveiled in front of the Cop for banging in a couple of goals against Millwall and Huddersfield

Hang in there 99 - appreciate your comments and general participation in the threads. I dropped off the threads a while ago (largely out of laziness in not having time for material contributions). I check in though to see what's what.

Hopefully Cannon will continue to show what he can do. I, like you, think his first contributions were a little lacking in direction (albeit with plenty of effort). He is now getting a start due to other players being unavailable. He can only put the work in and hopefully the chances will keep coming and confidence keep growing. He is promising.

Coventry away on Saturday. They are playing well. Hopefully they will take the game to us again and we will have plenty of chances on the counter. Could be a good one on the early KO TV slot!

Up the Foxes!

No minutes for Cannon
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Because all he does is run around like a headless chicken. I don’t know why fans are getting such a boner for him - he’s shown feck all in the appearances he’s made so far. I’m sure with time he’ll come good - but there’s absolutely nothing to suggest he should be commanding a starting place or automatically be given minutes on the pitch

He was bought for the future - not this season. He’s not ready

And I stand by that completely. He was bought for the future not this season. When Ian and Daka and Vardy return he will be back into rotation. Did I say anywhere he wouldn’t feature at all this season? Nope. I was saying what I believe. - he isn’t ready to be a consistent starter and he won’t be this season
