Arteta.
The good - Got rid of deadwood, built a brilliant first 11 and took us back to the champions league and challenging for the title. Seemed to have brought the Emirates back to life.
The bad. Even thought the good, his negative qualities have been there for all to see. Whilst we were winning, he was not questioned much but the sign have bee. Vivid.
1) Horrible man management. Some players are untouchable or favoured children (Saka, Raya, Odegaard, Nketiah, Havertz). Others he can't wait to sideline (Ramsdale, Pepe, Nelson, Tierney, ESR etc). This has resulted in players being overplayed and others sitting on the sidelines for so long that they lose all form and then don't perform when called in out of necessity.
2) Wasted funds. Some are just insane (Raya a goalie we did not need who will cost us 30m And Havertz for 65m). Other players have not been given a chance (Vieira, Kiwior etc ) and others have completely been written off (Tavares, Lokonga etc).
3) Stubbornness and Arrogance. I am sorry, the performances have been chit since game one this season. Partey at RB??? Gabriel benched? Why?? He bought into his own hype. At the beginning, we were still scoring but not many. Our style has stiffled the front 4/5 and it feels like this has become even more apparent as the season rolled on. Goals breed confidence...now we are not scoring, confidence is shot and any players being brought in have had minimal time so are not doing much anyway. And now the defence is under so much pressure to not concede that they look jottery too. Taking what we had last season and completely changing it is mental for a coach who now looks like he stumbled onto last seasons form and is back to the boring slow play that has been the hallmark of much of his tenure.
If he wins nothing this season, I think the pressure will be sky high and he could be a few bad results from being forced out.
How did we get here?

Before we got Havertz we were being linked with Kudus.
But we went for number 29 instead

People are overreacting a bit to our current run of poor form.
We are still only 5 points off top spot and in the CL. Pretty sure most of us would have taken that at the start of the season.
We have a much needed break now to get our shiiit together, if we can’t beat Palace at home then maybe it’s time to panic

All managers make bad signings. Pep signed Phillips, Nolito, Bravo, Mendy and Danilo.
The problem Arteta is having is at a crucial point when you looked close to title winning levels he's wasted money on a keeper and spent heavily on Havertz.
Compounded by his treatment of Tierney which is bizarre. A top class LB moved on loan for free and you're left with some CB cover signing playing there.
Things would be a lot rosier if he had spent the Havertz money on a no9. That position is the issue.
Not only for Arsenal mind you.

Bang on the money.
Arteta’s post-match interview seemed to be suggesting it was nothing to do with him … We played great (that’s all down to me), and what can I do if the players can’t score the great chances created? Eh, what about maybe not keep signing “forwards” who everybody already knows don’t score nearly enough … Jesus, Havertz, Trossard …

I've read too many negatives about Arteta recently. I'm not an Arsenal fan, but look where you were a few seasons back and your aspirations now. He's built an attractive and effective style of play, bought some good players and obviously has talent as a manager.
I only have two criticisms of him. First, he seems to always be moaning and I have to say that I have started to lose a little respect for him because of this (he's not the only one though). Second, some of the latter signings. I thought Jorginho was shrewd and allows him to slightly vary his system. But Raya's arrival hasn't really added anything and I think he looks dodgy. Ramsdale has a slight positioning problem sometimes but certainly performed very well last season. Also, why Havertz? I'm happy Chelsea recouped so much money for him, but what does Havertz add to Arsenal? Too slow out wide, nowhere near as good a playmaker as Odegaard, not a good enough striker. You obviously needed a centre forward and instead wasted your transfer budget. Technically he's very good, but he is also the most frustrating player you could have in your team.

inside Arteta there are two wolves, the one raised by guardiola who wants to dominate games and play really high quality football, and the one raised by Moyes who wants to spend 65m on a bloke just because he's tall and bring on a 3rd CB as soon as he goes 1-0 up
this season Moyes' wolf has taken the reigns

I said it all last year - the simple truth is that Arsenal A) over achieved last year and B) they had some great luck
This year, they have reverted to their true level and the luck has gone to normal levels
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bit like Spurs this year
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Possibly, although this is Ange’s first season rather than his third. You would imagine we will have more luck with injuries in future seasons, more of the players will be his own and his philosophy further embedded.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Might be his first season but he's got the obvious advantage of having one game a week so he can work more on the training field. We'll see how he gets on next season if your back in Europe with a limited squad. If he's able to deal with that then fair play, I suspect you will struggle though.

Yes it is a shocking run and not unusual for Arteta. This is the 3rd season running where we have gone on a long run of poor results. We have got out of ruts before so have to hope we can do it again.
