Just wanted to go on record and publicly thank LIW for sorting out 2x tickets for yesterdays game. A small and simple gesture to some, but you made my boys weekend even before a ball was kicked, and its thanks to you he's now got a new favourite goal he's ever witnessed.
MOT.

Nice story LIW, wish i was part of the local crowd. i have the same memories of going to my first Montreal Canadians game when i was 5. The game has changed so much over time and i lost interest about 30 years ago.

I did have a massive smile, when that goal went in, and I thought of you and your boy.
“
A quote from the late great Bobby Robson
What is a club in any case? Not the buildings or the directors or the people who are paid to represent it. It’s not the television contracts, get-out clauses, marketing departments or executive boxes. It’s the noise, the passion, the feeling of belonging, the pride in your city. It’s a small boy clambering up stadium steps for the very first time, gripping his father’s hand, gawping at that hallowed stretch of turf beneath him and, without being able to do a thing about it, falling in love.”
Always makes me feel very emotional when I see this quote.
It is exactly what happened to me.
I remember being 9 and started to listen to games, first one 5 2 defeat to Newcastle 1989/90.
I begged my dad to take me to a game, he had followed Leeds all over the place, but had fallen out of love with game.
So first game was stoke 2 0, Mervyn Day, saved a penalty, remember it like yesterday. A life long love affair had started.
Me dad, got the bug back, and we’ve had a season ticket ever since, sat together (34 years 🙈 makes me feel old)
I was a very lucky boy, that my dad did this, He worked away alot as a pipe fitter, wouldnt see him for weeks at a time, but no matter where he was was in the country, he’d come home to go to football, never missed a home game.
My Lad, was just the same, when I took him at four, he’s got the bug now.
I can still remember My first away game at 10, at Villa Park.
So when Shaun was seeking tickets, it brought back memories, that I will never forget, and just wanted them, to experience the Joy, I was so lucky to have.
And I dont want any thanks, it was my pleasure, mate 👍

Great reply LIW, and a great quote too.
Brings back memories of my first trip to Elland Road, a 1-0 win against that team in red, I've seen some great goals over the years but David Wetherall's in that game still stands out for me.
We try and get up to Elland Road as often as possible these days, and will be there for the Preston game, if you're about before the game by all means please let me know, I owe you a drink.

Can only agree. Owes me no favours as a complete stranger, but went out of his way to make my lad happy.

Beautiful recollections LIW and what a thoroughly decent bloke you are for sorting tickets out for Shaun and his boys... it made me feel quite emotional reading that. Good on you mate and a big fat 5 stars from me too 👍

My first game 1-0 defeat to Man City in 1995, not great, but walking up the steps and seeing the massive east stand and the rumbling incredible noise and I was hooked. Seen us play 30 odd European games and been to San Siro, Roma etc and seen 80 odd L1 games, sadly can’t get to many games as I’ve given myself too many work commitments, but next season will make sure I take my little ones who will be 5 by then.

That's what i love about the 606 leeds united family. well done LIW.
Remember bringing my 3 kids over to elland road for the first time in 1998 and a 3.0 win over Southampton.
Bought all the kits and bits and pieces and never had to worry about them supporting anyone else once they tasted the atmosphere that day.
