What are the issues?
More importantly how can they be overcome?
Is it true, as Jason Cundy has commented this squad cannot break down a sand castle
Or are we locked into a perpetual cycle of playing with an injury ravaged squad void of enough quality to maintain league progression, due to its inability to take a reasonable % of wide open chances on offer?
The good news is Liverpool do have a greater % of missed wide open chances
Chelsea FC > The excuses?

They should have I agree, however cup upsets happen all the time.
If we do not beat them over the two legs then it is shameful but this wont be the first time a lower league team beat a PL side.
In reply to "Its not exactly a group of players that are not able ?" - What is this based on? None of these players have shown a decent season of football in english football for us other than silva.
Palmer looks class dont get me wrong, Gallagher been good this year. But whatever this injury enzo has seems to be taking its toll.
Caicedo, disasi, broja, sterling are absolute dross.

Yeah, well lets see how this season pans out.
Im happy to take the positives from where ever they come from
But Nick , Our injury record over the last three years is not linked.
Different managers, different back room staff, medics and in fact a totally different squad, no correlation imo.

Back to that point,
No correlation, different :
Squad, managers, back room staff, medics, there is no common link bar ? misfortune ?
Well
Misfortune over the last three years imo is a random phenomenon.
Considering today, what are the issues ?
James & Chilwell> known factor, have the club have factored this in with the players they brought into cover them?
Forfana? injury prone prior to signing/ misfortune ?
Nkunku ? misfortune ?
Lavia ? misfortune ?
Sanchez ? misfortune?
Badiashile ? misfortune ?
Cucu ?
and so on.
I think putting this season into perspective, it is necessary to look at the Medics, the training and how we are profiling players.
Personally, injuries will happen, it is part and parcel of the game.
But importantly imo whomever is doing the buying should be aware of the squads vulnerabilities and when it comes to cover they should be extremely cautious in who they choose.
The other valuable point is the necessity of utility players who can hold up more than one position.
Jose to his credit was massive on this.
Imo, this squad has been put together without considering how important the utility player ability is.
This is part of the lacking in depth of strength issue, as these players are struggling to do what they do in a fluid side which keeps changing due to a lack of a consistent line up being available.
Im certain that there is answer.

Poch only managed any real success at Spurs with one of (if not THE) best press resistent midfielders in world football to progress the ball from our half to then be able to settle in the opposition half.
Weirdly he was very comfortable at breaking down low blocks, and his tactics were good with that. He allowed Erkisen to continue to probe and Dele was good for one of his flicks to come off a game - then we had the best striker in the world on the end of everything.
It also helped that in Son, Kane & Eriksen he had 3 of the better long range goalscorers in the PL - which bailed us out of many a low block 0-0.
But yeh, at Spurs Poch's buildup play wasnt great but he was great against low blocks. Interesting that it seems more the opposite right now.

Liverpool have Nunez...he's a class act at missing open chances...we can't compete with that...
although Palmer had a damned good go last night

It's all too early/hard to judge.
From a potential starting 11 for us we've never had our strongest team.
Nkunku, Fofana, Lavia, Chukwumeka, James, Chillwell, Sanchez are all still out.
7/11 players who would likely be in our first 11 is some going. And it's been like it all season

No idea why you think Sanchez is a miss...& it's been so long since we had Chilwell I can't even recall what he looks like
