A Dier-bolical Liberty

So, having given Bayern the custard pie in the face of having Radu Dragusin very publicly reject them in favour of us, we have followed it up with a swift kick in the bollox by flogging them that clumsy oaf Dier for £4m (exactly what we paid for him back in 2014).

This is indeed sweet karma for their turdhousery last summer with the Kane deal. It seems that all the football terrorists - Jose, Conte and Tuchel - absolutely love Dier, whereas Ange couldn’t wait to get him out of the door.

I don’t have anything against the bloke, he does his best, but the fact he has been here for one transfer window short of a decade doesn’t reflect greatly on how we have regenerated the squad in the last 5 years. Mercifully Paratici and now Ange have a more progressive view of how we should do things.

Good luck to Dier, he’ll probably get some easy silverware to his name over there but I can’t say he will he missed.

**just as an edit to this article, should also commend the club on the fact it’s Jan 11th and we’ve added the new CB we wanted who was our top target, Werner who will add pace and pressing to Anges squad options as a minimal risk loan, AND got shot of Dier for actual money. That’s some effective and decisive early business that should help us through this period of injury and international duty. With the full squad due back together early Feb I really think we can have a strong run for the end of the season.

Who Dier? I wouldn’t say it didn’t work out. I’d say if a player has been at a club nigh on ten years and made not far off 300 appearances it did work out. He had long periods of being good for us, notably when he was surrounded by good players; we had a few difficult years post Poch during which he became the main man in our defence which he isn’t good enough for, and his limitations were exposed. We’ve rebuilt our squad really well the last 18 months meaning he’s fallen way down the pecking order and he’s not got the skill set for Angeball so it’s the end of the road. Should’ve happened a couple of years sooner, but he’s still had a pretty good career at Spurs all told.

Cannot understand why some people are not very gracious, Eric was good for Spurs over a period of time. His style of play, like Maguire’s is very much old school but effective in the right team and tactics.
He clearly was not mobile enough for Ange’s style of football, I wish him every success at Bayern and thank him for his service to Spurs.👍👏

So after all that, he’s gone to Bayern on LOAN.

He’s out of contract with us at the end of the season, so his Spurs career is done. Not sure if Bayern are obligated to buy or not, but if they don’t he’ll be a free agent and probably a target for a Fulham or Leeds level club.

So he plays crap for spurs then gets an upgrade to a bigger club? Wtf?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We signed Jonny Evans
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He's played well for his previous clubs before rejoining and only ever meant to be an emergency. We shouldn't have sold him in the first place really.
