Could this be another swoop for us?

Don't know anything about him but he's been with them during a time where they've brought in some top players. Not sure why Bayern are supposedly giving Tuchel more control, wouldn't be suprised to see him gone later this year.

Maybe, but it seems from the article you linked to that the direct cause of his departure is that he's being pushed out, not head-hunted.

Yeah I don’t know the background behind the decision yet but I hope it is us being involved

No idea whether he's a best-in-class operator. It's not the hardest job in the football recruiting at Bayern, when you totally dominate the domestic market (which produces a lot of great players) and can offer a nice package of big salary, stable club and guarantee of league titles / constant Champions League. Without the benefit of a lot more information, I'd suggest that hasn't tested him the way someone who has a track record of recruitment success at a top Premier League club has.

Gotta be better than our approach over the last ten years though eh?

Also to be fair, you don’t get nor keep that job if you’re not very good.

He's just brought Dier in. nuff said!

Yeah, he's probably better than what we've had. Put a pin randomly in a list of football industry people and you'll probably come up with an improvement. All I'm saying is if INEOS is going through a process of seeking the very best person for the job, it's not unlikely they will choose someone else. And that I wouldn't assume having Bayern on his CV makes him automatically a better equipped candidate than someone who has worked at a smaller club.

Well nothing is guaranteed but if someone said to me at the start of the season we would get two people in the very top positions that work for Bayern Munich and Manchester City to come and work for us then I’d be over the moon rather than pointing out that it might not work out and that it’s easy working at Bayern from a scouting perspective.

It’s progress man!

All I'm saying is 1) I'm confident that INEOS will apply a rigorous process in selecting the new personnel, and 2) I'm not convinced they'll conclude the guy getting sacked by Bayern will be their choice. But basically, neither of us know anything about him, so if he were picked as a result of this rigorous process, that would indicate he's got a lot going for him.

Let’s hope so if we do employ him.

My point was really more that (if we’re going for him) that we’re not messing around anymore and instead of targeting a new £100m player, INEOS is focusing on upstairs first and foremost which I think is what al of us have been wanting for a long time now.

Others just want manager after manager sacking.

I felt similar when we got Rangnick so perhaps I really should learn to curb my enthusiasm
