The Final Word

I’ve said my piece many times on here however with mental health issues really escalating, it is time for me to take a total step back from supporting the club for the time being.

Leicester City is not the same football club it was under Vichai and I don’t think it will ever be again. We effectively have had a new ownership in place since 2019 and that change signalled the start of the clubs decline - to the point where both financially and competitively we have gone from being a Villa/Brighton with prospects of being the best of the rest in the PL to effectively a Norwich - a club that I believe will bounce between the divisions before settling into the second tier

The decline has is a result of a billionaires son who has handed the reigns of the club over to a DoF that is hopelessly out of his depth. The appointment of Maresca - who I think has done well to turn the mentality of the club around- is destined for long term failure. This is a manager who has inherited the best squad to probably grace the championship but who is implementing a style of play that simply cannot succeed in the PL for a club our size.

Under the direction of Rudkin we have deluded ourselves that we can play like City and simply pass our way to European football in the next 2 seasons.
That is his absolute belief - Maresca is the manager he tried to bring in after his disastrous Rodgers experiment. Maresca is a talented coach - but in the long term, I think his shortcomings as a manager will be laid bare. In some ways - over the last 3 weeks, it’s already started to happen.

This shouldn’t have happened. We had the foundations for long term success - but it’s blown away by hapless owners who are still under the impression that relegation is a mere minor setback to their grand European plans. Meanwhile - financial reality of their mismanagement continues to stare them in the face as we haven’t even got the funds to sign a £2m player while KDH may well have to leave.

I know Leicester fans who are bored to death of watching how we play. The atmosphere at the ground is soulless. The ownership silent. The connection between fans and club is at the lowest level I’ve seen. If Top heart is no longer in it - he should sell up and leave. I would thank him for his role in an unprecedented era of success, but his departure is overdue for me.

People will think I’m mad given our league position - but we are only where a squad of this quality should be in this division. For me the deeper problems and the reason for our rapid demise remain firmly in place. Until the King Power ownership moves on - I can’t continue to stay behind the club. I say that having been a season ticket holder in league one. At least back then we were looking up. Nowadays we’re not even looking where we’re going

I’m not quite going full JohnGee - but I’m certainly switching off from Leicester until the King Power ownership either demonstrates its learning or leaves Leicester. It’s better for my health that this happens - I’ll still be around to check in from time to time - but I simply have to step away from the club now. You can see why in the match threads.

Not expecting any sympathy or round of applause - just want to make my feelings known.

Might be harder to walk away than you think.
Suffered almost two decades of poor ownership at Leeds and we're only given a reprieve by lucking into a brilliant manager in bielsa. I know I'm what some people call a plastic because I'm not from Leeds but I love my club and could not give up on them because of the owner. They come and eventually go.

I’m not giving up on the club - I’m taking a step back until I can see some real change. That’s also partly for my own mental health as well because watching the direction we have been and continue to head in is just no good for me. If we go back to league 1 but with different owners or with a change of board I’d happily get a season ticket

I too have very similar worries about the future. This would have been less the case if Top had identified one of the prime reasons for our decline and replaced the DoF. Unfortunately we seem doomed to repeat past mistakes with the present incumbent at the football helm.

It will be a shame to not have your contributions which are always worth reading, but I know you've had such issues in the past and need to take appropriate action to maintain your health. Thank you for your input to date, I understand you needing to take a break but you'll be most welcome back if the situation improves.
