Just been listening to a debate about the Player of the Season so far and I was astounded to see one player left out.
One thing that was said in the debate was how there hadn’t been one truly standout player.
I beg to disagree.
In fact, there’s one player posting stats that aren’t just the envy of the PL but also ahead of anyone else across Europe’s big 5 leagues.
• Of the 353 players in Europe's top five leagues to have attempted 25+ tackles this season, only this man has a 100% success rate.
Just stop and ponder on that for a moment. Over 25 attempts at tackles and he’s 100%
• No player has won more aerial duels than this man (85) in the Premier League this season
• We’re over halfway into the season and nobody has dribbled past this man. And that’s no fluke. He’s registered this very stat before.
There has been a standout player this season and he is without a shadow of a doubt the Liverpool Captain
And Player of the Season (to date) … Virgil Van Dijk
Player of the Season (to date)

VVD definitely in the mix. I'd say Trent and Alisson in with a shout also. They've both had outstanding seasons so far. From City I think Rodri has been the outstanding player and Saliba from what little I've seen looks a top player.
Still a long way to go however.

Not even PSG will py 100m for a 33 year old with one year left on his contract.
And who's the new VVD, Vincent Von Doofenschmirtz?
