7 in 7 in the PL
His pressing has always been superb (which is crucial for the way we play) but his holdup play has been very impressive since his surgery, and the recent goal scoring record speaks for itself.
I'm curious where people stand on him now. Most supporters have never been convinced by him and see him as very limited, it was only a few weeks ago many were talking about wanting us to go out and sign a new CF.
My question is, if Richy were to continue scoring goals at this rate (or perhaps going down to a still impressive 1/2 or 2/3 since a goal game doesn't seem sustainable), would people want him to be our starting CF next season, or at least part of a one-two punch with Son? Or have people simply made their mind up about him and want better regardless of how well he plays the rest of the way?

Na it's touches per shot now.

Do any of the posters on here know if Richarlison is fit or not?
I doubt if they do. Just discussing aplayers merits with no knowledge of the players disposition at all.
The results speak for themselves. Fit or not, the guy is scoring goals....and near misses too. And he's doing his bit in defence.
Obviously he's a good player. And will be better with Son around.

Richarlison struggles with his hold up play particularly with his back to goal and his link up play can sometimes be a struggle.. Have come to accept his faults otherwise my dog will hate me more as he knows to stay away from me when our game is on
At least he is making up for his deficiencies by banging in a few. Guess we will have to accept it until something better comes along.

Watch the game from yday again and tell me hold up play has not improved

yeah his hold up play's good

I'm personally in the camp of preferring we go after a LW to a CF. Werner, Son and Brennan can get in behind well but we're still missing someone who can go by a fullback

Agree. I think Kulu is good enough to play up top as well and cover Richy if needed.

It’s a no for me. I don’t think he will keep this purple patch up. Happy to have him around the squad and he’s definitely got better, but ultimately I don’t think we’ll win anything if he’s our No 9. It all still feels like a bit of a struggle.
Maybe having Kane up top has ruined my perspective of what a No 9 is, but I’d prefer Watkins, for example. More clinical and more mobile.

When everyone is fit… he deserves to be in the team on merit… his work rate is very good… his hold up play rally improving… plus helps out defensively… he’s also getting his goals… 7 in 7 is very good…
But next season providing we are in Europe… we will need another out & out striker…
At the moment, when everyone becomes available:
Son. Richarlison. Werner
Richarlison would be even more prolific, if we actually send crosses in for him!!

Defensively he is one of the strongest forwards in the PL, his movement is also very decent, hold up play is ok. As long as he gets 15 goals a season then no reason to upgrade really.

But the most important thing is his xg, what’s that like?

Interesting that you say that when he’s 3rd on the big chances missed stat, I’m a big Watkins fan but he’s definitely not clinical

I think what bugs me about Richarlison is that he's not particularly tall or fast. He's good in the air for sure, tis a shame we lost Perisic to injury. But yeah there's not much better around unless we spend big

He is entering the prime years of his career. If he can do a job like Bobby Firmino used to but with more goals then we got a player.
