Lewis up against the fastest qualifier currently on the grid in Charl -

I know he will relish the battle (Charl will have his work cut out), doesn't shirk away from any challenge in his career, presence will diversify Ferrari (first black person in a team of thousands at Maranello, will open doors for more to come through at the team during / after his career because of this) and by far strongest pairing is good for the sport...
I don't think people grasp how huge this move is on every imaginable level.
Think Mansell from Williams to Ferrari, Prost from McLaren to Ferrari, Schumacher from Benetton to Ferrari, Vettel from RedBull to Ferrari.
On a grander scale than all of them!
Hiwever, very different ethos and culture both parties will have to get used to each other, helps that Ferrari poached some personnel from Mercedes.
Blown away by the motivation and drive of a man that has already won everything there is to win in the sport. (Particularly after what went down in Abu Dhabi 21).
Charl is the closest to Lewis in driving style. Overarching similarities in steering and throttle inputs (blessed with subtle natural feels and inputs which sets them apart from their teammates and 95% of the grid, enables them to extract the most / best out of the machinery over one-lap and in the race).
Demands and development path in-season should be aligned.

2 years + 1 option.

Imagine Ferrari provides their drivers with a championship winning car, strategies, structure and Lewis Hamilton proceeds to win the championship at his third team era regulations in Ferrari 40+ years of age (bear in mind this is the most prestigious pinnacle team in F1 that has failed to win elusive World Championship in 17 years) cements his legacy as the greatest of a generation.
How many drivers can say they drove for historically the top 3 teams in F1.
The dynamic between Lewis, George and Mercedes for this season will be fascinating.
Do Mercedes put all their eggs in the George basket or still prioritise the considerably more likely driver in Lewis to win a Championship wholeheartedly?
(Lewis wont be a part of any development ideas, technical discussions or intellectual properties for 2025 and beyond obviously).
A delicate situation.
Where does Sainz go? Audi? RedBull?
Who replaces Hamilton at Mercedes? Antonelli? Norris? Piastri? Fernando!? CHARL!?

That's a bit like imagining if Man utd suddenly bring in the world's best manager the world's best players, the greatest DOF and the greatest scouts isn't it?

The greatest scout was Tonto's horse. Just thought I'd throw that in to confuse the youngsters.

So Silverstone will be full of red flags now that Mercedes are German again.
