Consistency

After a great result against villa can we find the one thing we've been lacking all season, consistency? At times this season we've dominated top sides such as spurs, arsenal, villa, Newcastle, Brighton only to roll over the very next game and forget everything positive we've learned or done and lose to a so called lesser side. Personally I think our biggest problem is sides who are happy to give us possession, sit deep and hit us on the counter or from a set piece. Based on the lads performance mid week there are so many positives and they all deserve to keep their place but I feel a couple of tweaks could really kick us onto the next level. If fit we need to get colwill into the back 4 as a CB, I'd also like to see nkunku in there, ideally in place of Gallagher with palmer dropping into that role. That team is one I feel we can build upon for the rest of the season going forward

In short...
Defensive consistency relies on Badiashile, Chalobah, Colwill, Disasi + fullbacks staying fit.

In midfield consistency relies on Enzo (Gallagher) & Caicedo developing + evolving as a pair, and the latter continuing his excellence.

In attack consistency in breaking down low compact blocks relies on Chukwuemeka, Nkunku & Jackson special xfactor contributions.

Rotational options making an impact when presented with opportunities (starting or off the bench), wouldn't go a miss either.

Availability of differentiators is the most epoch-making way of achieving consistency and success.

There are a number of factors to consistency but in the end it requires a settled team that have been playing together for a while. To achieve it we need to get injured players back that are needed and integrate them into the team, then hope they don't get injured again. We will become more consistent over time.

Experience, confidence and a settled team where the players know each other. Takes quite a bit of time to get that, but that is what it takes

Yep consistency requires time, a settled group of players feeling confident and comfortable with each other.

Imo, its a bit like a recovering addicts pathway to sobriety.

Baby steps, two steps forward, one step back.Gradual progression.

I think it will take us the rest of this and at least the first half of next season to be consistent enough to regularly control a game for 90 minutes.

The club must work out why a significant % our players are so vulnerable to repetitive injury, whilst this is an issue the squad will struggle to find consistency imo.
