It definitely looks more solid as porro and udogie play like wing backs anyway which is why we are so exposed down the wings on the counter

Three at the back would allow the centre backs to get over quicker but still leave someone in the middle

No I don't think it would. On paper you'd think it might because it's more solid but think about how a lot of those players that have found real form and confidence under Ange would fair under Conte. For starters, we wouldn't get the Bissouma we did at the start of this year, we'd get the one that looked clueless under Conte last year. We'd have indecision about defensive responsibility from both Porro and Udogie. They'd have some freedom on the flanks but they'd be told to sit deep a lot, neither of which is their strength, mainly because we wouldn't control many games with a two man midfield. Kulu and Son we know can work in a Conte system but Maddison would probably be screamed at for not tracking back all the time. Honestly, that lot with Conte and we'd be winning the odd game but we'd end up with about 40% of the ball against lesser sides and we'd finish in about 8th. It would be just as miserable as it was last year. This is not about players. This is entirely about management style.

I'm not twisting the knife in here because I think most of the time Conte's system would beat an Ange system but that's okay. Conte had a good record against City too. Doesn't make Conte better than Pep does it?! Far better to be playing the way we want to play and improve rather than what we've had to endure for the last 2-4 years.

Think there's a good few players there who wouldn't look so good in a deep, defensive/counter-attacking system

on current form it would probably be 0-0 as we are a bit lacking vs parked defences, which is exactly what a Conte team would present.

Wonder how that team / set up would do under Anges tactics

Might make us more solid with the wide centre backs covering the flanks to help when we get countered
