Everton points deduction...

Reduced to 6 points. Puts them 15th, above Forest and Brentford.

Sheffield United and Burnley now 11 points off safety.
Luton now 4 points adrift but with a game in hand.

Everton had an initial "bounce" after the deduction, but haven't won in something like 11 games. This will put them in a far safer place. Shame.

is a myth, dyches everton are top 3 for high turnovers and pressing from the front? Dyche burnley played better football than ive seen Kompany burnley play so far too, by a long shot, his teams can put some plays together but obviously firstly comes the organisation etc with dyche.

was a liverpool fan the other day trying to call Brentfords frank a pulis cause he played for set pieces vs us. He couldnt be further from it his teams mix it up more than any in the league, hes just not afraid to focus on using their teams best chances.

That's madness. There's absolutely no way Dyche's Burnley side play better football than Kompany's, particularly last year. Dyce had one way of playing and it was to try and bully the opposition and pump long balls into the mixer in the hope that Wood and Barnes would get some knockdowns. That was it. They were a feckin horrible watch. It worked but it was a horrible watch. That's not football in my book but each to their own. I'd rather see them go down because that brand of football feels archaic to me. He probably has more athleticism at Everton which is why he's able to press from the fornt a bit more. As good as Wood and Barnes were at their job, they were never the type to chase and run the channels. He's not been there for very long. Over time I guarantee you, he'll go for a big man up top and he'll rely on McNeil to cross from deep. He knows it works so I think he'll turn Everton into Burnley with enough time. Awful. He's just another Pulis.

Thank you, I thought I was living in another dimension. I cannot see the appeal of Everton’s football at all, it’s shiete lump it into the box stuff and play for knock downs. They aren’t even very good at it, they rarely get enough players forward to support the attack, even when they win by pressing high up, they have nowhere to go but backwards.

It is an effective style, they would have scraped enough points to stay up without the deduction/s. Faaack me though, as soon as they are past this financial issue Dyche will be out on his aerse, they won’t continue to put up with that football

Burnley are awful to watch, they have about 20 less expected goals than Everton this season

Everton give most sides a game and are usually competitive, the fact Burnley knock it about a bit doesn't make up for the fact they get played off the park most weeks.

stylistically Everton are probably most comparable with Brentford, but Dyche is a dinosaur and Frank is a great tactician apparently

Its high energy, high commitment, defend in numbers, get the ball forward fast and feed off the knock downs & set pieces.

As Spurs found out its not the easiest to counter when then are on their game. They stop you playing and defend deep and with all back and really test you physically, especially with the high ball.

It's shamlessly direct, doesnt really take much coaching IMO, but as said does add a new "Pulis' Stoke-esque" challenge to a league that is dominated by more modern tactics.

I think the outcome ref today’s decision is pretty much what most people were expecting, and seems about fair.
The next question is regarding the next charge for the Toffees and Forest.
As a yard stick, and assuming that both overspends are in the same category, is it likely that Everton will get a further 3 point deduction, as repeat offenders, and Forest a ‘suspended’ 3 points, as its their first offence,
Similar to the Everton decision on their first charge.
Hopefully, Everton will be able to comply for the next set of accounts, and everybody will start with a clean slate.
As for the Man City charges, doubtful they will ever see the light of day, they’ll just keep getting buried deeper and deeper.

I thought that was their first charge but took 2 Years to bring to justice and hence the rule change this Year with December 31 the cut off point?

Had the Premier not dithered they'd be in the Championship now where they belong.

I hope they get worse for repeat offending while Forest should get the Minimum 6 points.

I would be surprised if Everton don’t get another 6 points and if Forests are suspended - what message does it send to give a suspended point sentence - they will def be deducted.

Question is how many, I reckon it could be 3 for Forest and 6 for Everton as it is a repeat offence.

Not sure how much of a deterrent it is though - if I was Newcastle I would seriously consider an couple of seasons of massive over expenditure to become more competitive in a shorter amount of time

My understanding is 6 points is the Minimum and Today's appeal seem to have set that as the benchmark, I expect them both to get 6 points which will probably allow them both to stay up with the odd win here and there until the end of the Season.

Luton have the kindest remaining fixtures - 5 very winnable home games, including at home to Everton and Forest. A couple of away games where they stand a chance of picking up a win and a draw also.

If Luton won 4 and drew a couple of their last 13, then after a points deduction of 6 points Forest would need a minimum of 5 wins and a draw to survive from 12 remaining games - very tough
