DERBY COUNTY v PORT VALE League 1 #36 |
Saturday, 2nd March 2024, 1500, Pride Park, Derby |
We're still second and I'm not going to get sarky by saying "How?" but you have to marvel at the Derby Way - I just run out of superlatives to describe the last few games.
We just seem to have no control - we have good individual players and at times they seem to gel but we don't 'boss', we don't 'complete', we don't 'finish'
Losing on Tuesday v Charlton was painful - lots of theories have been put forward but to me, we start in a good way, don't score (enough), opposition 'susses' us out, catch us out and we don't cerebal enough to counteract this.
Port Vale come to us deep in relegation trouble. No dis-respect but they won't want to play football, they'll want to snatch a point and go away glowing after playing in front of 25,000 fans. Could we not suss them out from the start and then adapt as they do?
