Spurs have extended their record of scoring in consecutive premier league games to 39.
That is, now, more than a whole season's worth of fixtures.
The last time we failed to score was the 1-0 defeat at Wolves, on 3 March 2023, under Conte.
In those 39 games, we have scored 83 goals, averaging 2.13 goals per game. 12 were last season and 27 so far this.
Its an impressive run, especially given the mess we were in in the back end of last season. It does give hope that we're always in a game and despite some poor performances, or halves, we have it in the locker to always get a goal.
The record is held by Arsenal who racked up 55 games across the seasons either side of their unbeaten season.
39 games

I like the way things are heading. It's disappointing we won't win anything this season but I see it as Ange laying the ground work, teaching the players a new style and building up their mentality. Already we've taken to this quickly but there are still things to iron out and areas to address which is only natural. A year on we can hope this style and mentality will be 2nd nature to a bunch of mainly young players who are only going to get better together with age.
So even if we weren't to buy any new additions in the summer, which we should do, I would still expect this same of set of players to perform a little bit better.

I’d like to see us push the boat out for 2!big players this summer and that’s it. Gallagher and Eze at about £110m would be nice.
Or Nico Williams at about £80m
It’s doesn’t need to be a 4/5 player summer, just improve the starting 11
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes another forward/striker and a holding midfielder would do. I guess we can see how Werner does for the rest of the season if he's worthy of keeping. Other than that you're looking at another full back, second string keeper. Try and get rid of some of the unwantables.

One big name signing for the XI. Either a Striker or a wide attacker. I do like the idea of Neto
Then a replacement for Gio & Hojbjerg - Gallagher?
Then a back up LB

We should be aiming to challenge for the title, otherwise what's the point, Ange certainly will be, but will Levy?
Strength in depth is key, half a dozen signings upgrading the likes of Hojbjerg, Royal, Gil, Davies, Forster should be a minimum aim

Few managers are challenging for the title in their second season. Arteta, Klopp, nowhere near the top in their second season.
Ange has raised expectations so high that i think this is a little bit of an issue.
I think what we really need to challenge for a title is a top quality striker, a top quality wide attacker and a genuine midfield engine for the midfield. All first XI at least getting a lot of games. I would probably add genuine cover for Udogie too and probably another experienced CB as a safety net.
That is probably the best part of £200m, and may well not be deliverable in the summer window.
For sure the coach and team will set their aims this high, but i do not think it should be the expectation of the fans yet. In a years time, assuming we continue to improve, then absolutely.
Next season this squad will have Europe to cope with too. It will not be as simple as just adding some players and challenging for the title. Close the gap, for sure! and have a damn good go at a Cup or 2

We have nearly got back to where we were under Poch. Which is the best Enic have done in 24 years. We all know that they failed to invest properly and take poch’s squad further, will they do it this time? Will they actually show the ambition to try and win something? Or will they just settle, profiteering from the champions league, like before?
Arsenal dropped 100 mill on rice. They’re now challenging for the title.
I want to see us do the same. If you gonna cut concessions, raise ticket prices and treat us like customers, then I expect a first class product. We have the money, I keep getting told how well run we are, how rich we are. Well let’s f a cking well see it. Or levy will just be shown to be a fraud. Fool me once, shame on me……

They was challenging last season before dropping £100m on rice

That is an impressive record no matter what way you try to spin it. Arsenal’s record was over 3 separate seasons between May 01-Dec 02. Looking at Spurs’ remaining games, can’t see them breaking our record

already getting your knickers in a twist and the window doesnt open for 3.5 months.
Before Arsenal dropped £100m on Rice they spent 3 year rebuilding their squad with sizable but gradual investment.
Our fans are just fixated with the size of fees.
We have proven with the likes of Udogie, VDV, Romero, Maddison, Porro, Vicario and others that the fee is far from the important bit. Its the right player, with the right attributes and the right attitude.
You were one of the ones bemoaning cheapskate Levy taking the cheap option on Vicario and not Raya.
Even Ange said he'd rather have 2 £50m players than 1 £100m player. I'd trust him over anything you'd have to say on the subject of backing the manager

Why do Spurs fans obsess with challenging for the title? Have you ever even really been in a title race?
Consolidating top 4 with a trophy next year would be an outstanding season, your Tottenham ffs.

- nope, just stating that if we ever want to actually challenge for an actual trophy, we need to sign for the now as well as for potential
Before Arsenal dropped £100m on Rice they spent 3 year rebuilding their squad with sizable but gradual investment.
- they spent an absolute fortune during that time.

No, they’re not. They’re fixated with wanting to win things

True. But we still are no better than our best under Enic. Top four. No trophies. Time will tell if this is different. I hope it is

- Ange knows a lot more than me, of course he does. Not sure what you’re point is here
