England Squad Euro 2024

A lot of very talented, young English players showing decent form right now and also a fairly long list of injured players.

Safegate has a lot of talented attackers to choose from, but will he break a habit of a lifetime and go attack heavy, or are we going to see a defensive minded squad as normal.

23 Man Squad, including 3 GK, to select from these options IMO:

GK - Pickford, Johnstone, Ramsdale (not playing!)

RB - Walker, TAA (injured) James (injured) Trippier (injured)

LB - Shaw (injured) Chilwell (injured) Mitchell

CB - Stones, Maguire (injured) Guehi, Dunk, Braithewaite???

CM - Rice, Mount (injured) Phillips (injured) Henderson, Bellingham, Maddison, Gallagher, Mainoo??

FWD - Kane, Palmer, Foden, Grealish (injured) Rashford, Bowen, Saka, Watkins, Wilson (injured), Toney

Have I missed anyone? 9 of these guys will not be on the plane.

I think we would take 3 x GK, 4 x CB, 4 x FB, 5 x CM, 7 x FWDs. Within that hopefully a fit TAA can be a FB who can also supplement the CMs.

Id be taken Gordon over Rashford, Sterling and Grealish. I dont like this thing where form isnt the most important thing. You should have to connstantly earn your right to play for the national team.

Agree in principle, but international and especially tournament experience is key as well.

Do we need that? Our young talented players have enough experience surely. Played in Euro finals, CL finals, won trebles the lot. Theres no more experience they can get other than more games majority of them have done it on all the biggest stages. And itll still have older players in there walker stones etc you'd imagine.

A lot of the young English talent have been having a lot of success at the international youth stages too. Palmer Jones Elliott Colwil Gordon all part of a team that won the u21 euros last year.

How are you meant to get international experience if you’re playing well every week in the league but he still picks someone playing shiyte every week because the used to play well when they earned their first call up?

This I agree with. England managers have historically overplayed the big names, meaning others just don't have the experience when the major tournaments come round.

Not read the comments, but I would expect Dier to make the squad if he keeps playing for Bayern

Especially experience playing together as a team. For the first time in decades England do play as a team and people cry about it because the squad doesn’t get changed because of some decent form in the league.

Safegate is a dreary loser and won't change his dullard ideology now.

He'll play his favourite cloggers even if they've been injured all season.

I expect he'll start Phillips, Mount, Henderson and Rice in midfield and expect us all to be grateful🤢🤢🤮🤮

I’d be surprised if those four have even been on the pitch at the same time, let alone starting.

Rashford is a decent option for games where we’re not expecting to dominate possession. He’d be in my squad, even though I don’t think he’s technically as good as he thinks he is.

Even in games where we will he is capable of moments of magic to score or create a goal, especially off the bench against tired legs. His form is obviously a concern for United, but I think England would be stupid not to include him in the squad for the Euros given what he’s capable of and being one of the few players in the England squad that scores goals for England.
