Brian Laws may not have pulled up many trees in his time at the club, but that double over the blunts is a memory we all cherish. The memory of him running round the pitch, proudly waving his blue and white scarf in the air is probably one of the greatest moments engraved in the memories of those of us lucky enough to have witnessed it!
The build up and banter between the rival managers that memorable season was something special, both being supporters of their respective clubs (B.L. due to his wife and the prospect of sleeping on the couch for the forseeable future!!), something which must surely give us the edge on this occasion thanks to Meggo's undoubted allegiance to his blue and white roots and D.W.'s .....errrr, what's that word discribing Judas?
If anyone has awaited such a moment to stamp his name firmly in the annals of Wednesday managerial legends, that has to be Meggo!! He, more than anyone , knows the importance of the fixture and surely won't accept anything less than 200% effort from his gladiators on the day! Any player under-performing will surely face a back-lash of boot-cleaning and bench-warming for the remainder of the season! This is Meggo's chance to show the world that thereĀ“s a new sheriff in town!
B.L. was able to rally his troops to boiling point, so I'm expecting the ginger nut to follow suit and deliver the biggest pep-talk of the century! Listening to his (B.L.'s) interviews on R.S. must surely have stricken fear into the heart of the enemy and expectation into the hearts of every blue and white supporter all over the globe. That's something I'm looking forward to on the build-up to Sunday's High Noon!! Come on Meggo........do a Laws, deliver that speach and get that scarf ready!! UTO!!
Time to do a Laws!!

Thing is we always lost the next 3-4 games and usually a few players to injury during the derby games under BL.
Heresy I know but I'd take a point from the 2 Blades games and promotion rather than 6 points followed by a month of dreadful form.
Think Meggo does right to play down the importance of the fixture.

Same here, but who says we can't have the best of both worlds? A win at the sty could take us level with Charlton!

To be fair, if we took the derby aspect out of this game (impossible I know but bear with me) this would be viewed as an away game against a promotion rival and aka Charlton, a point would be perfectly acceptable BUT....
....this is our chance to change the football pendulum in Sheffield back to S6 and a win at the sty would really get the momentum moving in our direction!! This is a 1979 moment all over again and we know what happened after that - 20 years of domination by us!!
Lets get at them from the start and take the game to them!!!!
