Newcastle Tactics

Just been reading Anthony Gordon’s comments on how Newcastle adapted their tactics to deal with Spurs on Saturday.

They did a very similar thing to Atalanta v Liverpool. They went over to man marking rather than zonal marking.

"We knew we couldn't play our normal way against this team because they are so good with the ball so we tactically changed a little bit and went man for man," he said. "I think our game plan the manager put us with was outstanding and helped us throughout the game."

We now have to find a solution to this, most other managers may well look on this as a way to counter a team’s superior passing game.
