Are the fixture dates kind to us?

I know the general feeling is that we really need to go win the next two away games to give ourselves a chance, and possibly the last game too.
But how do we feel about playing our next two before Ipswich play again? I think it gives us a huge chance to pile on the pressure.

For instance, I think if Ipswich played their next game before us and won, we would probably feel like it was done.

We have the chance to go 4pts clear of them, with a superior goal difference, with them having to go to Hull and Coventry. Unless they could win both of those, we will go into the final weekend with destiny in our hands.

Could be a huge advantage for us. We just need to throw it all at these games. Caution to the windโ€ฆ.

Sorry but the last 3 games have left me feeing that it's not to be for us this season. I just can't imagine us getting promoted now and see many similarities with Bielsa's first season and so I will be surprised if we win another game and think Boro will do us like Brentford did us 2 nil in 2019. Then QPR away we might be able to get a draw against a side battling like Blackburn did for their. lives and so by the time we play game 46 I think Ipswich and Leicester will have got 4 points above us.

So like 2019 it will be the play offs and further disappointment probably knocked out by WBA or Norwich on pens but I think it will ultimately be Southampton that will be triumphant at Wembley and join Ipswich and Leicester in getting promoted and all 3. will come straight back down while Leeds run away with the Championship with well over 100 points with a new better side equipped to survive comfortably in the Premier league and consolidate their Premier league status for many seasons to come.

Leicester and Ipswich fans are probably feeling the same as us and at least one of us, possibly two, or even all three will be promoted.

Last season when we went down, all three promoted teams stayed up...2 of them, Fulham and Bournemouth having also been in the Premier League quite recently which has to be an advantage.

99% of Leeds fans would have snapped your hand off on New Year's Day to be in this position...It's all to play for!

Macca - do you not think our squad will be decimated and sold off if we don’t go up? It will be starting over next season - what gives you the confidence we would walk the league?

In other news - I just happen to be in London (live in Toronto) the weekend of the playoff final. I don’t want to see Leeds in that game as I would obviously prefer them to go up automatically….but in the eventuality that we ended up in the final at Wembley, does anyone know what the system in place is for obtaining tickets?

Staying in Kings Cross….going to the rugby finals at Spurs Stadium on the Fri and Sat….trying to put the feelers out on the possibility for tickets to Wembley if we end up there.

Too right. We will not be keeping Summerville, Rutter, Anthony, Rodon and probably Gray if we do not go up. Can also see Joseph being snapped up as well and Roberts will probably move on. Add to that some of the "stars" who jumped ship after last season might be returning so we will have a much weaker squad in my view.
The 3 sides that come down will also be in the mix so I do not see why we would walk the league. Each season you do not bounce straight back up it gets harder, remember 16 seasons out last time....

Heard on TalkSport that should we win promotion we will pay £20m in bonuses and that will put us over on PSR or FFP for the accounting year...wait to see how quick they jump on Leeds for the breach.

Apologies Infiniteone for the late reply and I suppose I'm banking my prediction on Archie, Joseph and Ampedu staying with us next season if we don't go up and also Rodon, DJ and Roberts and I think all those I've mentioned plus Gruev and Kamara would be up for giving it another go and let Farke replace the likes of Summerville, Meslier, Rutter and Gnonto who I agree are certs to go but with smart recruitment from Europe and one or two from the Championship, League 1 & 2 and a half decent EPL loan then I truly think Farke after being at Leeds a year and experiencing the highs and lows will like Bielsa learn from his disappointment and actually turn us into a stronger side mentally and physically that
gives us a better opportunity of surviving the EPL.

Leeds is in all of us of course the love and passion we have for this club is not bettered by any set of other fans and believe me to miss out on promotion will be as gutting as 2019 and despite my reasoning for thinking we'd be in a better position in 12 months time I still would take going up this season and hope for the best but I suppose I'm trying to prepare myself as I'm sure others on here will be doing too for what I think is more probable disappointment regarding promotion this season but trying to see a silver cloud to cope with such disappointment.

The other thing I based my pessimistic prediction on is no club that is 3rd or lower after 43 games has ever got back in the top 2 and got promoted. When we lost to Wigan in 2019 we slipped to 3rd after 43 games and that was that.... I suppose it would be very Leedsy if we bucked the trend and were the first club to still get automatic after being 3rd at this late stage as Leicester and Ipswich are getting the jitters too but that Blackburn defeat to me seemed like our final top 2 chance but I could and still hope I'm wrong.

Either way all of us will carry on watching and commenting on L. U. F. C, whatever league that is as it's imbedded in all our dna and as hard as I try to pretend it's only a game, it's not life or death, I then remember Bill Shankley's famous retort, "No, it's far more important than that"... It's certifiably insane and illogical what being a fan does to you sometimes and of course your family and health must take precedence but even so three points Monday night wouldn't go a miss and this freak of a season changes your perspective yet again and my doom and gloom for this season gets turned upside down and is a distant memory. I sincerely hope so... to be continued????

Great summary of your perspective Macca…
I unfortunately don’t share your optimism in what our fortunes would be if we didn’t get promoted. But I suppose we can revisit those views in a couple of weeks when we know what’s happening.

Until then, let’s just hope for a win v Boro to keep the pressure up and the hope.๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

It does favour us but we need a win at Boro. Mentally would kill us with another loss or draw.

You’re right though, 4 points clear with better GD and them with two tough aways is a massive psychological boost. After the infamous Wigan/Brentford collapse in 2018/19, we were 3 points behind Sheff Utd with 2 games left but it felt like we had no chance and we played like it didn’t matter against Villa.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Went 6 behind with a worse goal difference after Sheff Utd beat bottom of the league Ipswich 2-0 the evening before
