📆 Wednesday 24th April
🕒 7:45pm
🏟 Molineux
Roll up, roll up, here it is, the meaningless mid table, mid week battle of the over achievers, the Gary O'Neil derby, the feverish fight for 10th, the apathy derby, call it what you will, no one particularly cares.
After our 2-1 win at the Vitality stadium back in October (back in the days when we were able to start with three recognised forwards, bring two off the bench and still have Fabio collecting splinters) the cherries went on an impressive 9 game run which included just one defeat to Man City lifting them from bottom to 13th. They then had to wait until March for their next victory but another burst of decent form has seen them achieve safety comfortably. Dominic Solanke is in the frame for the golden boot with 18 PL goals to his name and has a decent supporting cast around him with Semenyo and Kluivert chipping in with a few as well.
Its fingers crossed time for Wolves fans, hoping that everyone came through the Arsenal game unscathed and ready to go again in a game we should be able to win with the crowd behind us (they'll be right up for it if they read my intro here for sure).
Feels like another draw though to be honest, if we have a few guys back that is, 2-2?

Also from the WolvesBlog
“Some of the best moments of my life, as sad as it may sound to some, have revolved around football. When my dad, god bless him, took me to Molineux for the first time when I was 8, I fell in love with the game, and Wolves in particular. When he passed on, I continued to go with my Grandad, before I got to the age where I went with my best mates. Going with my younger brother for the first time was another special moment. The floodlit games under the lights, the familiar walk under the subway and the smell of the stale cigs, the pre-game nerves at 10 to 3, watching the club you love, alongside family and great, lifelong mates, where for 90 minutes you’re transported to another world outside the boring, humdrum depression that is life. I’ve got great memories that will last me forever.
27 years later and this Saturday will be my last ever game. The absolute cancer that is VAR has finally killed the sport I love and I just can’t do it anymore. This is nothing to do with losing matches, I’ve seen enough crap performances over the years alongside the great and good. Goals being disallowed for stupid reasons, not being able to fully celebrate anymore because some clown in an office 50 miles away has seen an inch of a stud offside. It’s chipped and chipped away for the last few years, but last night was the final straw. This isn’t the game I grew up watching, and it breaks my heart.
I often think what it must be like for young kids trying to get into football now. If all this had been around when I was 8, I would never have got the bug, never in a million years. Depressing to think how many groups of mates will miss out on the experiences I had, following my club all over the country, from Luton to Leeds, from Nottingham to Norwich.
VAR has killed the game I love, and I’m finally done”

DJ has said it many times but VAR for the fan in attendance must be awful.

He’s in a part of the ground where they don’t really celebrate anyway. They just sit there and offer a polite round of applause and a hearty guffaw

Good comments that came out of an interview between Cunha and Johnny Philips after the game that summed things up well
The fans were singing ‘It’s not football any more’ and Boring, Boring’. Cunha said it makes him feel sad about where the game is at now. The quest to get everything ‘correct’ has resulted in a diminished collective experience for all involved.

Must admit, I've been giving serious consideration whether to renew my ST for next season, Wednesday was a bit of a tipping point to be honest. But then again, isn't that just giving in? It should not be fans walking away from the game, what needs removing is the idiots that are ruining it.

Unfortunately, I think fans walking away is the only thing that will make them change it. At the moment, they take fan's loyalty for granted.

Most Prem clubs have a waiting list for season tickets. What will be achieved exactly?

I too am seriously p!ssed off with VAR.
I don't really go along with the conspiracy, "big clubs win out", thing, although we do seem to have come off pretty bad this season.
Wednesday's game against Bournemouth was the first this season I have not watched, either at the ground or on an internet dodgy stream. Came home to check the result, and genuinely felt no emotion at all, particularly when I heard there was another cr@p VAR decision.
I know (or at least hope), however, that come August I will still be just as enthusiastic for the new season. It's a drug, isn't it?

I do know some people that have decided to stop going because of var. But then I know someone who gave up his season ticket as a protest against Moxey. Then a year later Moxey left.
I recently filled in a detailed survey from the Premier League that asked for views on many aspects of the game. Annoyingly they didn’t ask what people thought about VAR. Guess they already know the answer to that one.
I do think a nationwide survey on VAR would be really damning if that could get organised. Maybe that would lead to a worthwhile protest

Looks like the injury problems may be switching from attack to defence now. Santiago Bueno will miss tomorrow’s game and there is some doubt about Toti being fit.
But Cunha is fit to start. And there could be a new name on the bench with highly rated Paraguayan youngster Enso Gonzalez having trained with the first team this week.
