Today marks the 10th anniversary since the passing of former Rangers, Hearts and Scotland defender Sandy Jardine at the age of just 65.
A legend of the Scottish game who won multiple honours, represented Scotland at two World Cups and even won Scotland's player of the year at the age of 37 (the second time he had won it), this was at Hearts who he just missed out on winning the title with on the final day of the 1985-86 season. He would go on to manage Hearts from 1986 - 1988.
Such was his impact at Rangers, winning domestic honours and even a European honour (not to mention his notable presence during the financial crisis in 2012). The Govan Stand was renamed after him in July 2014, a lasting tribute to the Scottish footballing legend that was Sandy Jardine.

Decent fellah as well, met him at a football thing at Hampden back in the 90s I think it was and he spent a fair bit time chatting away with us, no annoyance or ignorance even when he knew my mates amd I were Celtic fans just spoke about his time in the game a had a few funnies about his derby matches, top bloke and a great player

Yes I remember we got talking about Walter Smith too, how he and Goram both died of cancer. Sadly that was Sandy Jardine's fate too, he was diagnosed with liver cancer in late 2012. Really sad.

Same here he arranged blue room and directors box tickets
Never to be forgotten day
Along with the interplay with McKean that set up the title winning goal at Easter road
2 of my greatest football memories and Sandy at the heart of both

The son of someone who used to work with me was in hospital with cancer at the same time as Sandy was. My workmate said Sandy was very kind and friendly towards the young man.
