I was reading earlier about Utd cutting back expenses at the club, by limiting tickets to the FA Cup final for their staff, making them pay for their own transport and no longer putting on any hospitality for them.

On the face of it, it seems like a somewhat stupid move. I understand the need to cut costs, but cutting them from something like this must be a drop in the ocean whilst also annoying a large portion of the clubs staff.
When the takeover was announced all the noise behind the scenes seemed to be positive, with shrewd backroom signings and as a rival fan was a little worried that Utd might make their way back to the top in time, but does the positive really outweigh the negative?
Even with the signing of Dan Ashworth, on paper it's a good move and for once Utd aren't just paying over the odds at the first ask. But have they gone too far the other and insulted Newcastle instead? Will this way of doing business just lead to other clubs not wanting to do business with them?
Looking at other sporting endeavours, SJR seemingly had a pretty rough time of it at Nice & while I don't follow cycling, my understanding is that INEOS' venture into that sport left them just falling short of what was expected.
Edit to add - the links to Southgate don't exactly inspire confidence either. Obviously there's no idea to know how true they are, but that was the first sign I thought they might not be the saviours they were being made out to be.
So, will it be a positive move for Utd or just a different set of problems? Is it just good news it's anyone but the Glazers? Rival fans, are you worried?
Are INEOS the answer?

I’m no opposer of company belt-tightening and certainly reversing the Glazer/Woodward pattern of over-rewarding.
But cutting non-playing staff benefits is not what I support, at all. Reduce player contract remuneration, shift it more heavily on bonuses, stop signing players for too much money & wages, sure.
But these types of benefits are nowhere near what has gone wrong with our club expenditure-wise.
A little disappointing tbh.

If there was a case study in how not to run a large operation then United in the last 15 or so years would be the prime example.

Yet those that do run it recently turned down c.£5B to exit.

Agreed. It seems like while many other things have gone badly wrong over the last decade, the club has kept its old sense of being a bit of a family, with everyone chatting to the tea lady etc. I think that kind of sense of community is valuable in itself, and who knows, perhaps can be harnessed to make the whole organisation more effective. Not necessarily a prerequisite of a high performing club (I get the impression that maybe Liverpool and Arsenal have this and maybe Chelsea and City don't) but a good thing to nurture if you have it.

Wasn’t the fake sheikh exposed as that, meaning it wasn’t really ever a real option?

I read the clubs execs had their club credit cards cancelled.
I'm sure these types of changes are being made across the business which is needed If we are to get backnl to where we want to be.

That sort of action I can get behind a lot more than taking away a nice day out from the people at the heart of the day to day of the club.
