Thoughts from last night

Had funeral to attend in Hartlepool so some lovely driving across the moors and then off to LIW and Pags house to watch the match.

Didn't know what to expect, but didn't expect that.

Utterly toothless display.

Midfield is simply not working and Gruev all over the place for first goal, three players utterly inept to allow the second goal, with Gruev again at fault and Piroe up top showing exactly what we miss from Bamford being out.

Because our midfield was so poor everything came down the wings and out was completely nullified.

Passing was awful, Rutter wasnt in the game.

I felt Rutter needed to drop deeper and us pass to him more, but it was Summerville who seemed to move central, but very little difference.
We heard how many QPR concede at set pieces and that Leeds will have done their homework.

Well, they didn't but it doesn't help when two of our players are 5'1".

Same players shouldn't be in box defending, they should be outside the box giving us an outlet.

With midfield not working it's hard to see how to change that from the bench except to somehow get Kamara on to shore things up but not changes at half time.

Really not much better second half, eventually Joseph comes on and you can see quicker reactions to chances but no real change, Gelhardt and Kamara on, too little too late and 4-0 is almost all hope of autos gone.

We do of course still have a chance, Ipswich have two hard away games, BUT, we dont deserve auto with the last 6/8 games.

There was nothing to day, no passing, no plan, no heart.

Farke was refreshingly honest at the end, we weren't good enough, didnt do any basics well, bad day at the office but he said it was like day 1 always chasing as we have all season.

That's not quite true, we were top at one point and pretty much had it all in our hands and have really thrown away a golden opportunity....abiyt 3 times!

He did make a great point about your though and I think Beckford said similar.

We miss Bamford's experience here, Piroe doesn't have it, Summerville doesnt have it, Gnonto doesnt have it, Ampadu just experience of relegations etc etc.

We're missing that Ayling, Cooper, Bamford experience of knowing what is needed for promotion, especially after just missing out on it.

Really awful performance and Ive suddenly gone from having confidence in Farke to worrying that we won't win another match this season, I simply do not fancy our chances in big one off matches now.

And finally, lovely to meet LIW's kids, one of whom at 4 is a walking football encyclopdia.

They do need to come with a warning for future boyfriends....they are going to have their hands more than full!

Now it's 03:41....off to bed!

I’m not gonna say Farke out because I don’t think that will make us better next season. I think we go up automatically next year with Farke, but he deserves criticism for how he’s managed the last month. Not used his squad well enough and his man management clearly hasn’t lead to calm heads on the pitch.

His last 3 seasons at this level he’s got 90 points in all of them. He’s not dealt well with the pressure and intensity of managing Leeds in a run in, but it took Bielsa a second go as well, he didn’t manage that pressure well first season either. We say players learn with this experience, we should say the same for Farke, he’s never managed a situation like this at a club like this before.

Next season, Summerville goes, so does Gnonto. I’d be amazed if anyone came in for Rutter tbh and Gray looks a long way from PL ready at this moment. So we are looking at a similar squad to now with replacements for two of our wingers. I think we’d get 90 points again.

Piroe is not a player for Leeds. A terrible player. Batty why is your first c9mment even to blame Bamford. Its weird. Is it because you have been found out that your call of play Piroe as a 9 has been shown up to be an awful call. Bamford is out with an impact injury rather than a muscle injury. It had to be Joseph that replaced him not Piroe. Farke went on a massive rant about how Piroe can't play as a number 9 and now calls him his natural successor.

^^^

Heat of the moment.

My Bamford comment should've been toward the end
of my post. He wasn't at fault for anything last night.
Because he was injured and unavailable in crunch time
yet again. And still people make him out to be the one
singular reason why we succeed.

Bamford wouldn't have stopped us losing last night.

That was my not-well-made point.

As for the rest of your made up comment, I've said on here since the early part of the season that Piroe's not a true #9. He's a hybrid 9/10. He's scored a few goals.
But, he's just another expensive square peg.

I've been asking for Joseph to be given more chances
and starts. He at least is a #9. He can do what Bamford
does to an extent. But Farke must think he's too young.
He clearly knows where the goal is.

My biggest issue is the club have not added at least
one more true #9 (who can actually hit the target with
traditional head and feet) to a squad that has been
crying out for it for three seasons.

We once again sat on our hands in January believing
our only true #9, Bamford, was all we needed. And it
looks like it's bit us in the ar$ e again.

So, again, for the record, I'm not blaming PB for last
night. But, he was injured yet again when Farke needed
him.

Last night was on Farke and some absolutely dire
performances.

I'm a big believer in positivity and confidence breads a positive outcome but even that has it's limits where Leeds United are concerned but of course the fat lady although she may appear to a lot of us to be standing in the wings getting ready to sing loud and clear there is always a possibility Ipswich will carry her off stage instead of us.... I'm not throwing in the towel as such and if Hull win tonight I'll be a lot more positive about our promotion hopes until next Tuesday at least but you can't have witnessed last night's performance without thinking "My God we're utterly shyyte" and not be rightfully concerned and question our promotion s chances this season.

We had it wrapped up weeks ago. We just had to turn up with some cohesion and a plan. The results we have had of late show we clearly are not ready for the PL and our manager is way out of his depth.

Time for a proper rebuild this season and attempt to get promoted next year. It's over this year. Last night was proof that we can't handle the pressure. Gutting.

Lovely to have you over last night Jonty!

It was our H who’s 6 who’s a walking football encyclopaedia! Agree re future partners though, they have a lot to contend with.

Last night was dire. You could see shades of it during the Boro match but the performance last night was disgusting. There were no leaders at all.

I constantly say whatever the question is, Piroe is not the answer and last night showed that.

Right now, I’m not looking forward to the playoffs cos I don’t see us beating the likes of Coventry/Hull etc.

Spot on. There was a lot of shouting down where January was concerned with this all conquering squad that didn't need additions and options.

In addition to that Joseph should absolutely have been given more game time than he has. The vibrant performance he gave at Chelsea was a hint at what might have been where he is concerned.

On a similar theme many who dared to question Meslier performances were dismissed. Sadly as the pressure has cranked up we are seeing the Meslier from the premiership run in. I saw a stat somewhere that he had conceded 7 from the last 8 shots on target. Ok he was let down by those in front, but that ratio is alarming.

As disappointed as anyone with last nights performance & result. I think some players had shockers but it’s been a good season. We’re running out of steam/ideas/form (take your pick or add your own), but we’re in the top 4, 90 points & still in the mix for promotion. Youngest team in the league I keep hearing. Don’t think farke has rotated the players enough, saw Charlie Cresswell walking out last night & thought he must be cheesed off with life in the squad (not saying he’s better than Rodon, just an observation).

I’ve not given up on promotion, nowhere like it. But also concerned as others have said about how we’d fair if promoted. I know others I sit with feel similar.

Booking hotels with mates this week ready for playoff final ….. can always cancel if Ipswich implode ….. ever the hopeless optimist 😳😳😁😁

There was a player on display last night who can do a good job as a number 10. I heard he would have been interested in a move and I know there's the London factor but the final piece in the jigsaw?

Ilias Chair?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Assume you haven't read about this player Dennis. Google him and see if you would likehim at our club.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
On second thoughts he was interested but you think of people accused of gambling or sexual offences and they are suspended, got to ask, why was he playing?

Last night was the worst performance at the worst possible time.

We move on though and as I type Ipswich have scored to make it 1-2 just before HT.

My sensible hat says I would have been more than happy with third after the first month of this season. The club was in turmoil with players leaving left right and centre.

Farke has done a great job to be fair. OK the wheels have fallen off since the international break but prior to that we were unbeatable.

Play offs it is unless Ipswich blow up. Still a chance if we get our collective arses in gear.
