Manchester United announce the departures of interim CEO Patrick Stewart and CFO Cliff Baty by mutual consent.
Stewart will be replaced as CEO by Jean-Claude Blanc until the arrival of Omar Berrada on 13 July.
Baty will be replaced as CFO by Roger Bell.
Joel Glazer: “Both have been a source of invaluable advice and expertise over many years, and Patrick has served an important role as interim CEO during this transitional phase."
Sir Jim Ratcliffe: “I would like to personally thank both Patrick and Cliff for their support in helping us get to know the club and making us feel welcome and I respect their decisions to now move on as we establish a new management team for the club."

That should be the final exodus of the Glazer/Woodward regime that has turned my club into a circus. Only Fletcher is left now and it seems like he’s not going anywhere, he’s liked by Chemical Jim.

Fletch has apparently been pretty important to the youth set up changes that have lead to emergence of some of the stars. Given he also came through the ranks, it make sense. Don't mind him sticking around.

Shame, always felt Partick Stewart would complete his 5 year mission and take us boldly go where no man (Utd) has gone before

Was always likely he'd get the boot but he did his best to klingon.

I heard they let him go because of his obsession with data

He's an enterprising character, I'm sure he'll find a new job in warp speed.

More on the leadership changes with some useful context: https://theathletic.com/5462234/2024/05/01/ineos-manchester-united-economic-control/?source=emp_shared_article
Some takeaways:
- It underscores the point that the scope of INEOS autonomy goes well beyond the sporting leadership. They are replacing business / financial leadership figures who have a longstanding relationship with the Glazers with their people. E.g. Chief Financial Officer Cliff Baty is replaced by Roger Bell, someone from the INEOS tent.
- They are deliberately acting in quite a rapid and ruthless way, wanting to give shock therapy to the organisation to bring about cultural change.
- People who are seen as resistant to change aren't lasting long. Patrick Stewart was only interim CEO, due to be replaced by Omar Berrada on 13th July, so it's pretty bold to replace him with a different interim CEO for just a couple of months.

So what, of any, role will Jean-Claude Blanc take long term?
