In the league for the 4th place?
We have had a few chances given to us by Villa and a combo of other result, like Utd ones, but we have failed so far to take any advantage of these.
Are we now in the last chance saloon? or has that ship truely sailed?
I feel Villa are slowly wrapping their hands around 4th, while we are fading in the distance.
Is there any joy in winning today other than putting one of over an ex-manager and over a London club?
It is also a chance to take a revenge for the significant defeat that unravelled the Ange Ball mysticism
And all fell apart for us after that encounter with this lot
Is it a must win for us tonight?

It will be tough to get 4th place and we will have to win most of our remaining games which will be a big ask.
I don’t believe we aren’t working on set pieces and I think we just need to let Ange go about his business and make us a better team.
If we finish 4th then happy days but if we finish 5th then we’ve made progress from last season.
It won’t be easy going to Chelsea tonight but let’s hope we can get a win .

Lose tonight and I won't be looking at Villa, I'll be glancing back at United and Newcastle wondering.

I read Chelsea have about eleven players fit so we have to win tonight. No excuses.
As for 4th, Villa should tie it up soon enough.

what worries me is that we have fallen from 1st to 5th in 5 months and TBH not really played very well at all since the turn of year. We went out of the cups with barely a whimper and despite having a ton of rest with no midweek games don't really look like we have really improved in training on key aspects of our game. Our defending is appalling most of the time and overly reliant on the speed of VDV to make up for us being horribly exposed with this high line...... Opposition teams at both ends of the table aren't stupid.
For all the plaudits about our "attacking style" I think its a bit of a myth", Yes we have a lot more of the ball than in prev seasons but we miss a ton of chances and barely hammer teams the way Liverpool, City and Arsenal do.
I appreciate the fact that we have had injuries/ AFCON etc but so has everyone else. The drop off in form from the likes of Madders, Biss, Vic, Sarr, Bentancur and to some extent Son has been pretty depressing.
I really like Ange and want him to succeed BUT given how we started ang given the fact that United, Newcastle, Brighton and Chelsea have all had disappointing seasons..... Not making 4th is a bit of a failure to me and no matter how much Ange talks about longer term building a winning team (something he has no history of when not managing a top team in a soft league.. I cant help thinking he's pulling the wool over our eyes a bit.
Spurs have tried hiring winners to change a losers mentality, now it feels like we are back to style over substance..... We never quite get the balance right

Hard to disagree with any of this.

We need miracles to get top 4 now. I just can't see any outcome other than us continuing to give up easy goals and therefore we're never going to claw back enough points with our games in hand.
Disappointing end to the season.

its a big ask 4th but not impossible until its not.
I would just like the players to take some responsibility of what goes on once the games kicks off. Ange can’t control a lot of that and players have to start making decisions out there. they are professionals after all.
I mean do any us of have keep asking your boss what do every second of the day….. I would hope not and I would your boss trusts you to do the best you can.

Agree with most on here and sadly with the sentiments of Diamonds.
What is alarming is the form of certain key members dropping alramingly from game to game. Kulu is one such example. The isolated "school boy" errors in fits and parts from the likes of Udogie, Van de Ven and even Romero contributing to a disastrous outcome.
At times, we looked like very open in the middle and giving away huge space betwenen defense and keeper.
Also, Vicario has shown real vulnerability in set pieces. He doesn't get protected by any of the others.
Ben White was even seen tickling Vicario's fingers during a corner!
These are incidents that should not need to be taught as the players are well experienced and were showing lot more solidity for the first 3 months.
tbh, given our predicatments, I woul have taken 5th if I was offered it as the start of the season.
