Assuming we end up 5th (IMO no way we finish below) and Chelsea finish say 8th or even 7th.
As angry as I’ve been recently, I’m not Ange out. We need to back him at this point because he’s here and changing manager will be yet another reset and who would we even replace him with? He does at least try to play good football. Maybe the first 10 games were a fluke but it did show that the style CAN be attractive/successful.
With that out the way, I think Poch has had the better season and they better placed to push on next season. They got to Wembley in both cups (where they bottled each time) but the key thing is they started awfully but have got better as the season’s gone on. That is what you are supposed to do when theres a new manager implementing a style. That said I was massively against us rehiring him and I want him to fail at Chelsea.
It’s extremely worrying that we have fallen off so much as that momentum/lack of will likely carry on into the new season. I’m all for Ange being stubborn or whatever but be stubborn about things that make sense.
Forcing us to pass pass pass low cross into the box and never shooting is not something that makes sense. Refusing to play youth, playing werner, sanctioning johnson for 45m does not make sense. Under using Lo Celso and Dragusin (try micky LB ffs) and waiting until we are 3-0 down to make subs makes no sense!
Anyway, cba to ramble on, this article was more to understand you guys thoughts?
Ange vs Poch - Who’s had the better seaso?

I think both are having pretty poor seasons, but I think Poch is the better manager.

Six years he had with us. Yes there were good times but 6 years is long enough for any project. Him crying at the semi final in Ajax exposed who is truly is. A loser. We never had a chance in the final. All his press conferences leading up to the final were negative and never gave anyone any hope.
6 years and zero trophies with Kane, Dembele, Son, Eriksen, Toby, Jan, Rose, Walker ect. What a dissappointng project that was.

I'm fully Ange in but the disrespect towards the best manager we've had since Burkinshaw is just ridiculous. It's worth remembering that we didn't want him. He didn't turn us down. The line from most sources is that he thought the job was his back at Spurs. We turned our noses up so what do you expect him to do. It was a plum job back in London. I don't blame him at all for taking that job. His loyalties to us died the day Levy decided not to bring him back. After that he was free to do what he wanted to do. And he's clearly back turning that juggernaut around.
It's far more encouraging to see someone play badly to start with and slowly see signs of improvement, which is what Poch is doing. It's far worse to see someone hit the ground running and then fall off a cliff. It makes you wonder on what trajectory we're heading.
The truth is that there's no one else out there. United and Munich are looking for a new manager and it's slim pickings. It's pointless getting rid of Ange but if this form doesn't pick up by Christmas he's going to have to answer some serious questions - hopefully in a humble way and not laced with the usual lengthy arrogance his press conferences tend to be. He's got nothing to be cocky about, frankly.

He also can't grasp the fact that of those players he's listed, only Toby and Son were his signings. The others were there before he got there and didn't pull up any trees. He MADE them as good as the perception is now. Anyone would think he inherited a world class team. He didn't. He made them all better. It's the same misconception Levy fell for when he hired Jose. He thought he had the finished article that just needed the right coach. He didn't stop to think whether those lads performed the way they did because Poch made them greater than the sum of their parts.

Ange will be gone within 10 games of the new season is what I reckon
As soon as he called out the squad (like conte did) that’s it …..levy will not spend on an overhaul, which Ange wants and we need ….so that will be that
Potter incoming …,or ETH if given the boot at united

Tbh can’t disagree. Pretty much every team and the players regress after having Pochettino. Southampton, Clyne was tipped along with lalana as some of the best prospects going, yet Klopp struggled to get a tune out of them. Then at Spurs Jose and Conte struggled to get Dele, Winks and others playing anywhere near the previous levels. Even PSG eventually had a squad break up after his departure. Slowly but surely Chelsea are improving. That will only ramp up with less injuries and more tweaking of the squad this summer imo.
That’s said I still believe Ange can do the same for Spurs.

There is no way anyone can be calling for Ange out at this stage.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And yet plenty of Spurs fans are, because guess what, people can have different opinions.
What is Ange showing you exactly that you keep defending him like this?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Did you want Poch out after his first season of 64 points, +5 GD and 5th place?
If not why not because we are likely to better that this season .
Yes the defence needs some work but on the flip side of that we have never scored as many goals as this even with Kane. So, very much a work in progress. Take your attitude and Arteta would have gone after 1.5 seasons, Klopp would have not made it into his second season. Villa would have booted Emery after 60 points and no trophy.
You are entitled to your opinion but i have little respect for it. Someone calling for our managers head at this time in my opinion has little knowledge of football, just shouting the odds from their armchair.

So far on that list, season 1 - 5th . Ange will have matched Poch. I think few of us have enough wisdom to know whether season 2 will be see similar improvements to what we saw under Poch.
It was a slight false position under Poch. We came 3rd with 70 pts which will probably not get you top 4 this season, but 70 points was a big improvement. His 3rd season was superb and 86 points is very strong in any season.
This is the sort of speed of improvement we can hope for under Ange, and he's made a good start, despite a poor end to the season.
Poch's longer term improvements were massively hampered by funds, as a result of the stadium, and that is the real sadness of his time here. He did so well, took us all along for the ride but we ran out of fresh legs & thus impetus because we ran out of money. Difficult to know how could we could have been and how good Poch really is because of this.
